QUALIFICATIONS: Chartered Physiotherapist, HPC & CSP Member

Matthew qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2008 with a 1st Class honours from the University of Central Lancashire. After completing his junior rotations in a large teaching hospital in Manchester, he relocated to London as a senior physiotherapist specialising in neuro-musculoskeletal physiotherapy. This role involved treating a wide range of conditions ranging from acute injuries and post–operative rehabilitation, to helping clients manage chronic conditions. Following 3 years in this role Matthew looked for a new challenge and moved into working full time in elite sport.

Matthew has since spent the last two years working with a leading premiership rugby club where he gained valuable experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries, developing his clinical assessment and rehabilitation skills. Matthew has recently relocated back to London and now works full time with a large London based football club. He is specialised in the management of hip and groin pain, knee, hamstring and ankle injuries.

Along with his work commitments, Matthew is currently in his final year of an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at the University of Bath. As well as undergoing a research project in hamstring rehabilitation. Matthew has also worked in a variety of sports including track cycling, karate, fencing, sitting volleyball and the GB Judo team. This varied sporting experience combined with a sound clinical background developed in the NHS has given Matthew the skills to be able to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and develop individualised management programs.

Outside of work, Matthew enjoys photography and is a keen skier. He also does the occasional bit of rock climbing and cycles when he can.

QPR have welcomed a new Head Physio to the club with the appointment of Aaron Harris, while Dr Imtiaz Ahmad will oversee the medical department as part of the restructure.
Harris moves to Loftus Road after spending eleven years at Tottenham Hotspur as Head Academy Physio.
Ahmad, meanwhile, is promoted to Head of Medical Services after working at QPR for the past two years as Club Doctor.
Ahmad previously worked with the England youth squads before joining Millwall where he stayed for five years prior to a switch to Tottenham, for whom he worked for nine years. He is also the Chairman of the Football Association Medical Society (SE).
QPR Director of Football Les Ferdinand told http://www.qpr.co.uk:“Aaron is a highly qualified individual who was really well respected at Tottenham and his arrival is a big plus for us.”
He added: “Imtiaz has done a great job as Club Doctor and it, therefore, makes sense for him to have a role where he can oversee the department.
“We are very happy that he has agreed to his new position.”
