TORQUAY UNITED v CARDIFF CITY
Plainmoor
Pre-Season Friendly
Friday 20th July, 7pm

Team News 20/07/18

Warnock intends to play as many first team players from his squad as he can :thumbright: :bluebird:

Over 1,000 Cardiff fans have travelled and its pay on the night :thumbright: :bluebird:

Cardiff City may not risk Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson against Torquay United tonight with the duo still a little short of full match fitness.

Both players reported back for pre-season training this week, with Zohore's return disrupted by the birth of his child and Gunnarsson recuperating from a World Cup campaign with Iceland.

Earlier in the week Neil Warnock suggested the pair could feature against Torquay at Plainmoor.

Yet, despite the manager's eagerness to spread game time around his squad during the pre-season tour of Devon and Cornwall, he could hold back Zohore and Gunnarsson until Wednesday's clash with Rotherham.

Joe Ralls, Junior Hoilett and Callum Paterson are all expected to start the game against the Gulls - after sitting out the Bodmin drubbing - while Sean Morrison and Sol Bamba could be partnered in defence for the first time in pre-season.

Possible Cardiff XI v Torquay: Etheridge, Peltier, Morrison, Bamba, Cunningham; Ralls, Paterson, Reid; Mendez-Laing, Hoilett, Madine

Hey folks - Torquay fan in peace!

Is anyone driving to the game via Bristol today that would be prepared to give me a lift for petrol monies? I'm trying to avoid the RIDICULOUS train ticket prices as my lady has the car today!

For info - Torquay have actually managed to pull off a couple of decent signings for NLS level, however the fitness levels amongst most of the newbies is terrible so I'm reluctantly expecting your lads to walk through us tonight (though our keeper, Bass on loan from Pompey, looks sharp!)

Hope to see Cardiff in action tonight against the gulls!

Cardiff City may not risk Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson against Torquay United tonight with the duo still a little short of full match fitness.

Friday 20th July 2018

Two players that aren't expected to feature are Stuart O'Keefe and Omar Bogle, both still contracted to the club but haven't travelled on pre-season tour.

Lee Tomlin and Anthony Pilkington, like O'Keefe and Bogle, are expected to leave this summer but have featured for the Under-23s this week.

Jarred Harvey's side beat Porthleven 9-1 on Thursday night with young striker Rhys Healey bagging five goals. Healey has now scored nine in three pre-season games for the young Bluebirds.

What formation has Neil been playing in preseason?

Is this a 4-4-2 line up?

Looks like our strongest 11 right now, looks like Patterson is deff trying to be converted to the defensive mid role - could work

Late change to the line up as Smithies starts instead of Etheridge.

4-2-3-1 is how I would describe it or 4-4-1-1 if you prefer both the same IMO. Reid is playing in the number 10 role with the two wingers.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have drawn at Sevilla and have just won at Levante tonight. A massive contrast in standard and we are only 3 weeks away. Next week will be crucial for confidence as if we have a couple of defeats, we will be in all sorts of trouble mentally wise.

People were just being unrealistic as usual, was always going to be no more than 2-3,000 there with 8-900 from Cardiff.

Its a Friday Night pre-season friendly, nevertheless, 800 odd is impressive IMO :bluescarf:
