NEIL WARNOCK:

“The pitch was good and the lads got some mileage under their belts, so I’m pleased with that.
“Our attitude was good as well, when you’ve got a good groups of lads you know what you’re going to get.
“It’s always good for confidence getting goals, so I’m delighted to get a few tonight.
“Danny Ward has worked really hard after a long injury but he will contribute this season I’m sure. It does (feel like a new signing) really, Jazz Richards the same, he had a bad injury last year and has come back. He can do a job for us."

“From a manager’s point of view (pre-season) is about fitting everybody together and making sure that dressing room is right and the new lads are welcomed. Going abroad is okay but it was more important that we get together. Friday against Torquay will be a bit tougher and next week, both Rotherham and Burton will put us in our place, so it’s building up now. It’s a nice feeling at the moment."

“For the lower teams the more mileage you do in pre-season is detrimental. Some players get away with all that travelling because they’ve got that much ability. But the bottom half of the table are going to need that energy when the season starts. I’ve always enjoyed coming down here so I don’t see any reason to change it, not at my age.”
