NEIL WARNOCK: " STRIKER "

Sun Aug 19, 2018 8:33 am

NEIL WARNOCK:

"We’ve got players who can win games. I’m disappointed not to get a striker, but the ones we could afford I didn’t think were better than we have,we just don't have the money, but I’m pleased to bring the midfield lads in," said Warnock.

"I think that’ll be the biggest problem, goals in the team. We need someone to have a streak.we need to score goals"

After little more than 180 minutes of Premier League football, Cardiff are without a goal to their name and have registered just two shots on target.

Of course it's still early days, and Zohore is still getting up to full speed having missed the clash with Bournemouth due to injury.

But more chances need to be created to ensure that Cardiff can start to carry a significant threat in-front of goal.

If they don't, it could be a long old season.

Sounds as though NW is also putting pressure on the rest of the team to create chances for Zohore to put away.

Zohore is not a premiership goalscorer Wish Warnock would stop making excuses for hi ,Hes not fit etc.WHEN will he ever be fit

Just read the ‘All Warnock had to say’ thread and he says that Zohore hasn’t trained for two an a half weeks, that doesn’t help him or the team

because even at 95% he is the best we have..and apart from his heading which everyone their dog including the clubs that have bid millions for him all know about he did play well.

We need to get low crosses in not to his head!

Re: NEIL WARNOCK: " STRIKER "

We certainly need a striker as soon as possible - but that's January.

In the mean time we need to do SOMETHING .

I suggest that we urgently appoint a specific coach who specialises in this to work very hard with our forward players.

The obvious candidate is John Toshack , who benefitted greatly from such a scheme at Liverpool and has both the credentials and connection to take it on.

I think he's in Iran though, so probably not him. Point is that we have a problem and since we cannot get a new player then we must find another way of solving it.

This might be a good time for Gary Madine to find his potential - or do we possess a player currently in another position who can convert ?

What clubs bid millions for him apart from Brighton

im just going by what our manager said but if it was just Brighton id imagine they would be aware more than anyone both about his heading and his attributes

Also Wolves were in the race to sign him as well.
Play to his strengths, on the deck so he can turn the centre halfs.

Look, we all know the program. Spend sensibly on players whose resale value may be higher with a decent season in the premier league and hope there are three worse teams than us over the season.

We weren't promoted from his goals, we are a functional team. He sucks in the two centre halfs and the full backs are one on one with our wide forwards.

It wasn't his fault that we only produced one decent set play yesterday, this is the really concerning thing. Since Malky this has been our main source of goals. I am hoping Arter has a decent delivery in his locker because Ralls,Bennett and Holiett were poor yesterday.

My plan is to enjoy the season, the club to bank the money, be sustainable and sellable in the future.

Back to Kenny. He is a big unit and history tells us he needs game time to get up to speed. He won't be prolific, but there are 9 others who need to step in as well.

I seen enough yesterday from the midfield to give me hope we may be the 17th worse team in this league.Survive and we can gamble bucks on a striker next season.

I am not knocking what you are trying to say but I differ in the opinion that he is good enough and I believe he has been give n plenty of chances to prove himself and NOW maybe it is time to give Madine or someone else a run in the team and see if they can score goals which last season Zohore struggled to do.We need someone to score goals .Some say Madine is a donkey but at least he can head a ball very well .Yesterday on at least one occasion I’m sure Madine would have put the ball in the net therefore giving us 3 points not 1,

yes he has been given plenty of chances..and how did that work out?
oh yes we won promotion ,which would have been impossible with a striker nearly as poor as some {including you } are making out he is..

So why does that say it was BECAuse of Zohore WE had to rely on other players to score

Re: NEIL WARNOCK: " STRIKER "

For any striker to be effective teams need play to their strengths! At moment city are not plus he needs time to adjust to fact don't have time to dwell on ball need to hit or pass ball 1st time, it's to simple to say he's not up to premiership standard if that's the case lots of strikers are not because they don't get past 10 goals a season? Is two games long enough to judge him for some fans probably is! NW point is more players need to help with scoring not rely on ken :old:

He is the best we got...sell him and hell get bagful of goals for another Team.

Look at Gestede. He went to Blackburn and got loads of goals. So, persevere and he can get to doubleb figures.

For crying out loud. This was his 1st game in the Prem. It will take all the players time to get up to speed and adjust to the Prem. Thought we played well enough, got a point on the board and a clean sheet.

If we don't start scoring 6 games in, then its time to worry

Some fans think all the players should be up to speed of premiership already as it's no different to championship. :o

Clean sheets are more important than Ken scoring goals. Simple as.

Probably the same reason your boss employs you; no one better available...for now! ;) :laughing6:

The truth is that Neil Warnock knows what he has and will endeavour to get the most out of the squad available to him. It's a choice between Zohore and Madine up front and recent history suggests the former will get the nod for now at least, so the rest of the team (as with all other teams in league) will have to be smart enough to adapt to the strengths of those around them

Personally, I saw enough on Saturday to make me think City will get goals and points in the coming months but I am one of those oddball City fans that remains positive rather than negative even though only two games have past

We have what we have and manager, players and fans just have to roll up the sleeves and get on with it! :ayatollah:

Honestly Chris, it’s like trying to explain to primary school children sometimes!

..... he’s the best we’ve got and the only way he becomes match fit after an injury and not training is to play matches like yesterday.
Rocket science can be difficult to grasp sometimes.

He needs to train to be anywhere near up to speed, if you don’t train you suffer and ultimately the team suffers

Zahore is not good enough for the prem we are in desperate need of a striker I can only see goals coming from midfield and Warnock knows this hopefully I am proved wrong but I think we are creating chances but not clinical in front of goal any other striker would bury the chances we get

Re: NEIL WARNOCK: " STRIKER "

Jesus Christ some on here are pathetic he has played one game give him a proper chance!

Also personally thought he did quite well. Yes his heading is awful as we all know and I would hope that they make him practice it to improve all week long but everything else he did was quite good. Held the ball up well half the problem is also our midfield/wingers don’t get close enough to him at times leaving him isolated. But in the whole I was massively encouraged by the teams performance and think we can hold our own against most teams in this league.

Re: NEIL WARNOCK: " STRIKER "

We may be in the premier league, but we are not a premier league club....Kenny is the best we have or could afford, so we need to support him.

Yes, Vinny could have loosened the purse strings, but lets be honest he has learnt. All you Johnny come lately's deserted the club as soon as you could when we were relegated last time and will probably do the same next season. So lets be financially prudent and have a solid club going into the future.

Very true but remind me who hasn't been able to train past 2wks? Also other players need to adapt to fact cannot linger on ball and need to be quicker with passes so not just kens problem :o
