The Cardiff City players currently in the shadows

Cardiff used a total of 30 players in their 46 league matches last season, the joint-sixth highest total of all 24 sides in the Championship from the 2017/18 campaign.

And following the club's summer recruitment, fans spent plenty of time before the season opener at Bournemouth desperately forging together the side they felt is now the strongest Warnock can select.

Stars of the promotion-winning campaign, including Loic Damour and the injured Aron Gunnarsson along with the likes of Matt Connolly, Greg Cunningham, Kadeem Harris, Brian Murphy, Jazz Richards and Alex Smithies are yet to get any minutes under their belts this season, understandably so for many, particularly the goalkeepers.

The same applies to the quartet of Lee Tomlin, Rhys Healey, Anthony Pilkington and Stuart O'Keefe who are all destined for moves away from the Bluebirds.

Strikers Gary Madine and Danny Ward have had just limited action in the opener at Bournemouth, a trend that is likely to continue for the pair throughout the course of the season.

Everyone will have a part to play at some point, but how many have a chance of becoming regular starters? It remains to be seen.
