That's good but should people ignore court summons if sent by courts on behalf of private companies?

That post is just over 2 years old. The law has changed.

Here's his current advice and examples of when to fight and how. His whole website is full of good advice actually.

You can try but they are well known for siding with the Parking Companies.

You should never ignore a Court Summons if you don't file a defence within 28 days they will get a default judgement in their favour. A CCJ will be marked on your credit file although if the Parking Company wish to collect their cash they would need to go back to court pay a fee get an enforcement notice and then pay bailiffs to call on you, which very rarely happens.

If they don't enforce the judgement it stays on your credit file for 7 years but they only have 6 years (statute of limitations) to recover the debt through enforcement.

If you pay the Parking Company in full within 28 days of the judgement your credit rating won't be affected.

Look up the Barry Beavis's case, nothing's cut and dried regarding this issue, few years ago but relevant.

I have received 5 of the Parking Charge Notices over the last 4-5 years. I have ignored them all and, one letter apart (which was binned) I have had no other contact from them. My employer has received dozens of them and has not payed a single one of them.
