Former Swansea City boss Garry Monk's Birmingham City could face huge points deduction after allegedly breaking EFL spending rules

It's not looking good for the former Swans boss
Former Swansea City hero Garry Monk could well find himself in a relegation battle soon, with the Blues reportedly facing a whopping 12-point deduction for breaking EFL spending rules.
According to the Daily Telegraph , the unprecedented punishment relates to league rules over profitability and sustainability.
The EFL is believed to keen on showing a tough stance after reportedly agreeing on sanctions earlier this week.
The Blues were slapped with a transfer embargo at the end of last season after exceeding the permitted losses of £39m over a three-year period, and even had to agree a business plan with the EFL in August after the embargo was partially lifted.
Five players were subsequently signed, although they were all on free transfers or low-cost loans, with Cardiff City striker Omar Bogle one of those new recruits.
The saga could rumble on for the next two months, with Birmingham highly likely to appeal against any possible sanctions, which would also include a heavy financial penalty.
What we learned from the interview
A verdict on any sanctions is set to be delivered by an independent panel, and could arrive before the Christmas period.
Should the Blues be found guilty, they could be hit by a 12-point deduction this season, which would throw the Blues' hopes for the Championship campaign into complete disarray.
Birmingham are currently 20th in the table and are still looking for their first win of the new season after a number of draws under Monk.

In a bizarre sort of way it would take any expectation off him as no-one would expect them to survive the drop with their current squad.

You would imagine that Birmingham wouldn't be the only club to face a points deduction as there must be other clubs who have broken the spending limits?
