The astonishing salary paid by Cardiff City to former Nottingham Forest and Bristol City star Lee Tomlin
By Gregor MacGregor

US website displays salary and contract information about Bluebirds midfielder

The amount that attacking midfielder Lee Tomlin earns could have been revealed online.

US website Sportrac purports to track contracts and wages across a number of sports including the Premier League with Cardiff City covered as well as Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

It states that it aims to provide financial information on player valuations and more.

And the contract resource site says that Tomlin earns £19,000 a week.

That tidy amount gives him an annual salary of £988,000. The site says that Bruno Ecuele Manga earns more on £24,000 a week but both those players are behind Harry Arter's £40,000 a week.

Other Premier League stars such as Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Paul Pogba are said to earn £315,000, £306,000, £250,000 and £290,000 respectively.

The site does not cover Championship games, nor has been able to list players purchased last summer, so former Robin Bobby Reid's current contract details are not listed.

Tomlin was claimed to be on £28,000 a week previously by Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony on social media, but that amount was later rubbished by Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock.

Asked if he was surprised by MacAnthony’s claims, Warnock said: “No, not really, I think he’s just trying to get out of a hole with his own fans by the sound of it. It’s ridiculous.

“And if he’s going to say stupid comments like that he should at least make sure he’s got the facts,"
said Warnock in December last year.

Tomlin is yet to play this season after not being given a squad number by Cardiff and remains in limbo.

And a red card against Coventry U23s in a recent match has meant that the much travelled attacker is currently banned anyway.

Surely it can only get better for the former Bristol City in the weeks ahead.

This might be complete BS but the problem I have is not how much Tomlin is being paid but that Neil Warnock chose not to include him in the squad of 25. Say what you like about him, but he would have given us another option when things were not going well. IMHO, he is the type of sub that you can bring on to swing a game - particularly when a win was possible against Newcastle & Huddersfield.

Even if he was in the 25 then Warnock wouldn't have used him so its a pointless debate unless you want to replace Warnock.

Yes let’s ignore the facts that he’s fat and lazy.

An drop somebody who works hard from the 25 and somebody who deserves there place on the bench for him.

the FIFA 18 version of him must be far more impressive than the real life slow pastry addict that has 1 good touch every 4 games .

yes some had new contracts, some had increases for promotion built it but i doubt that any of them had it written in that gregory greg macgregor sat in his pants in a basement somewhere in Gotham city should have exclusive rights to all pro contracts over here.
