I was there, we had nearly 2,000 fans up there . There was trouble before, during and after the match on the pitch and outside the ground.

It was mental.

The terrace was crumbling and bits of it were being thrown back and forth.

Seemed like the whole town were there as they had qualified for the final of the Freight Rover Trophy at Wembley.

At the end there were hundreds of them on the pitch and our lot were getting whacked back off the fence by the police.

Some of our players got attacked and the fans were fuming.

We stayed ther for about 49 minutes after singing for Frank Burrows, but what we didn’t know was that he was scouting a player at Hartlepool v Swansea :laughing6:

Didnt game get stopped twice because Burnley fans invaded the pitch,i think they equalised close to the end?,just for us to go up other end to.win the game 2-1?,f my memory is right,we were behind a huge fence with a water trough in front of us?

I remember us scoring really late on in front of us and the referee never restarted the game

Cant remember whether it was Nicky Plantneur or Paul Wheeler :occasion5: :occasion5:

It was 1-2, Gilligan and I think Alan Curtis got a late winner with s free kick which prompted another pitch invasion by Burnley.

If memory serves me correctly I think they needed to win to get into the play-off and were a tad miffed when we bagged the winner.

Great day out though with the Welsh Cup win over Wrexham at the Vetch rounding off a superb season!

I was at this game, cardiff massed before game at a pub on the roundabout and a convoy of coaches and mini buses were escorted to the game.Lively in the ground, with burnley on the pitch chucking all sorts at us.After the game a load of mini buses were parked on the hard-shoulder just off the motorway as a handful of burnley had stoned them and ran off down the banking.Cardiff fans caught 1 of them, gave him a few smacks, bundled him into a mini bus and took him all the way back home(chucking him off at newport).Mad as f**k watching city back then, but by far the best times ever."LONG LOST DAYS" :bluebird:

What a find, can’t beli it was 30 years ago!
Remember we were not too far from their fans and one of their fat fans had a Cardiff top with blood over it screaming through the fence.
Top day out, think I went up on Mallo’s coach, love to be 17 again!
