morrison long throws

Mon Oct 01, 2018 8:59 pm

Watched the game again on tV and stating the bleeding obvious ,when Morrison takes the long throws he is continually out of position if the ball is won by the opponents and kicked over Morrison s head, he just has not got the pace to recover. Maybe he should stop taking the throw ins.?....

if Gunner was playing and taking those throws SM would be equally out of position being one of our main ariel threats, so not sure..?

I don't see the problem with it myself. The full back just tucks into the centre back position and any of our full backs have more pace than Morrison to cover anyway if the ball is kicked back towards us straight away. Also, with Morrison taking throw ins, it avoids the risk of us being boxed in deep so often, his throw ins get us further up the pitch.

Think we should knock the long throws on the head , Ive never seen us gain anything from them , goes no where near one of our players lob it in and hope for the best it seems

The problem for me with Morrison's long throws are that there seems to be no real thought process or gameplan? Just launch it in there. Patterson started on or outside the box for most of them and never got near and yet he won virtually everything from 'back to front balls'.
Frustrated with free kicks and corners too, when you have Morrison, Patterson & Bamba amongst the targets, the ball is just floated in with no real purpose and very little movement in and around the box.
We are clearly &rightfully considering this as a good attacking weapon and yet don't appear to do much on the training ground to capitalise on a potential threatening area.
Could do with a Whitts type delivery now.

The long throws are absolutely pathetic.

It never varies. Try a short one now and again but no, EVERY f*cking throw in is launched aimlessly as far as possible down the pitch.

It never succeeds and it's so easy to deal with for the opposition who know exactly what's coming because it NEVER CHANGES!

Use it occasionally by all means but mix it up and use it sparingly.

And if you are going to use it then Morrison should be in the box not throwing the bloody thing.

I remember us scoring really late on in front of us and the referee never restarted the game

Cant remember whether it was Nicky Plantneur or Paul Wheeler :occasion5: :occasion5:

One of the papers yesterday said that Morrison spent over 8 minutes taking 20 throws against Burnley. Such a waste of time! Yes, try one now and again, but mix it up.

Glenys In Row F could throw a better ball than Carthorse Mozza. Give the job to someone else and have Mozza in the box on the end of one of the crosses.
