The Cardiff City star has returned to the Republic of Ireland fold after a public bust-up with the former Manchester United captain

Harry Arter has broken his silence over a bust-up with Republic of Ireland assistant boss Roy Keane ahead of Nations League matches against Denmark and Wales.

Cardiff City star Arter will return to the Irish squad this week after being left out last time — following a foul-mouthed rant from Keane questioning Arter's commitment.

The former Manchester United captain allegedly called Arter "every name under the sun" after the on-loan Bournemouth midfielder sat out of a training session due to injury.

It left Arter in international limbo, but the 28-year-old says things are now patched up between him and Keane. He looks likely to face Denmark and Wales in Dublin for the Nations League double-header.

"For me, what has happened in the camp, stays in the camp," said Arter. "It happened between two grown guys and it's sorted now.

"I've got the utmost respect for Roy Keane and I was glad we sorted it out. We've patched it up and everything is back to how it should be.

"I'm just looking forward to going back over and hopefully put all the negativity to one side."

Arter has been in consistent form for Cardiff this season, standing out as one of the Bluebirds' top performers.

And he could face teammate Jazz Richards among others when Ireland host Wales at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday 16 October.
