Wales v Spain

Match facts

Wales and Spain have met on five previous occasions, with Spain securing two victories to Wales’ one (D2).

This will be the first time the two nations have met since April 1985, when Wales won 3-0 courtesy of an Ian Rush brace and a goal from Mark Hughes.

Wales have scored 10 goals in five games under Ryan Giggs but they’ve failed to net in three of those matches.

Wales have won only one of their last 10 non-competitive matches (D3 L6), winning 6-0 vs China PR.

Spain are undefeated in their last 26 matches in all competitions (W17 D9), a run spanning over two years (they last lost vs Italy in June 2016).

Spain have won 10 and lost none of their last 16 away matches (D6), scoring in 15 of those games.

Wales’ Gareth Bale has been directly involved in 11 goals in his last 11 appearances for the national team (eight goals, three assists).

Sam Vokes has had a hand in four goals in his last three games for Wales (two goals, two assists vs China PR), as many as in his previous 31 combined.
