Fulham

Fulham have scored three more goals than us, but they've given away four more than us.
At this very early stage they've won one more game than us and lost one less.

This has cost them many millions but perhaps some here will note that it hasn't bought instant success and bear that in mind when they're complaining that Vincent Tan hasn't bought Ronaldo and Gareth Bale or appointed Mourhinio as the new manager.

They have two or three absolutely excellent attacking players but remain questionable in defence. First thing then is to contain these players.

Unfortunately they do seem to be a bit of a bogey team for us and we know that whatever their defensive holes might be, they're very good indeed at containing the shape we played going forward last season, and still use more or less alternatively at the moment. For this reason I would personally bring Bobby Reid in and go with something like the more central attack we've tried a couple of times, most certainly including Josh Murphy.

Here's a team which we can beat, but which can also beat us, so let's not make any assumptions or start wetting ourselves if we don't get our own way. The trick here will be methodical play and no stupid slip ups at the back, and this might well earn the result we want and silence the half-wits in our own ranks who tend to run or surrender on first sight of the enemy.

Last week they wanted Ryan Giggs sacked or even shot because he lost one game and now they think he's the new Alf Ramsey because he won one. We can therefore expect an excited over reaction from them whatever happens in this game which will remind us of of infant school kids who've either been told they're going on a trip to the museum or, alternatively , that there's not enough plastecine to go round the whole class.

Either way they're an irrelevance to what Sir Neil and the players are doing, but at the same time an irritating one.
We won't stop them ventilating of course, but my point here is that everyone else must be very resolute and supportive at the match. In this way we can bring an extra pressure upon the opponents and perhaps make the difference.

Conversely, an atmosphere of negativity and presumed defeat in the stadium will aid them. They're certainly not panicking because of the early results, and if we give the impression that we are doing so, they'll smell it like a shark smelling blood.

Press on then. Leave the football to the men in the line and do what you can to support their efforts. Sooner or later these efforts will return results and whilst we might be about to see the start of that in the next game, let's not regard it as a last chance, but rather put pressure upon the opponents instead of our own boys.

Very good chance that we can do something in this game to steady the nerves of the children amongst us, so let's hope it's the day for that and enjoy it .

I just agree with the writers comments in respect of Saturday's game with Fulham. Lets hope the team can hold their nerves and get the result we need. Roll on Saturday .
