Shock ‘HORRENDOUS’ Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane claim made

LIVERPOOL pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were “horrendous” despite their roles in the weekend’s win over Cardiff.

That is the stunning claim of pundit Don Hutchison.

Yet despite their efforts against Cardiff, former Liverpool midfielder Hutchison - who spent four years on Merseyside between 1990 and 1994 - was not impressed by the two wide men.

He told beIN SPORTS: “If no-one’s seen this game, this was my commentary game at the weekend, Mo Salah scored one and got two assists and Sadio Mane scored two.

“The two of them were horrendous. They had such a bad game it was incredible.

“Salah wasn’t going to miss the first one, Cardiff’s defending wasn’t great.

“It took them a long time Liverpool. You’re thinking at 1-0, ‘They definitely need a second.’

“With Mane, he was having a five-minute spell where he was having an absolute stinker then it fell to him on his left foot and you can see the way he doesn’t celebrate, he just wanted to smash that as hard as he can as if to say, ‘You know what I’m not trying any flicks and tricks anymore, I’m smashing it.’ That’s exactly what happened.

“This [Shaqiri’s goal] is where Salah was brilliant, that ball with the outside of the left foot, he played it to Shaqiri’s back foot - his strongest left.

“Salah and Mane went through the gears in the last 15 minutes. The fourth goal is brilliant, Mane carries on his run and Salah in the first hour wouldn’t have picked this pass. It was perfection.

“Jurgen Klopp had to sweat for those three points, honestly.

I think that's the fairest assessment of the game I've read from the media.

But it's not fashionable to talk about Liverpool like that so the headline above is written... HORRENDOUS.

Mo Salah dismisses 'goal drought' critics in HILARIOUS interview

That is the stunning claim of pundit Don Hutchison.

Liverpool beat visitors Cardiff 4-1 at Anfield on Saturday to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Salah scored one and set up another two while Mane scored a second-half brace to help the Reds to a comfortable win, with Xherdan Shaqiri also on the score-sheet for the first time.

Salah, Mane and No 9 Roberto Firmino have been under scrutiny for much of the campaign so far having underperformed compared to last term - when they contributed a combined 91 goals.

“If you paint the picture, it was 1-0 hard graft, then it was 2-0 easy, then it was 2-1 hard graft again and back through the gears.”

Klopp, however, was suitably impressed by Mane’s performance with the Senegal winger having played with a hand injury.

He told journalists: “Absolutely [it was impressive], that’s how it is. He has a broken thumb and plays with a brace - I wouldn’t feel comfortable with it, to be honest, but he obviously ignores it pretty well!

“The first goal he gets the assist and the goal actually, I think he prepared it by himself. All good, a very good performance.”

Liverpool face Arsenal - who are 12 games unbeaten across all competitions - at the Emirates Stadium in their next outing on Saturday (5.30pm).
