Sky Sports: Cardiff going against the grain

The Premier League is full of passing teams, but Cardiff are doing things differently following their unlikely promotion last season.

Neil Warnock's side have made just 3,372 passes in their first 12 games - more than 400 fewer than any other side. They are averaging just 35 per cent possession.

Playing to our strenghths, and they don't like it. Traditional British football and more exciting than all this sideways boring passing in my opinion Annis. Good to see when it works.

I do think some pundits are warming to 'our way' though. Seem to be a lot less negative lately than towards the end of last year.

Very misleading possession wise as played 5 of top 6 so nearly half games our possession stats will be well below average like a lot of teams who played them? But last game shows we can score man c type goal with about 20 passes before scoring.

I think our football has been much better than reported in the media, not all of our football has been route one. Let’s not forget, we scored one of the goals of the season so far, against Brighton, where every one of our players was involved.

Lawenson and the rest of them quite frankly - can all do one.

We've played the top 6 and played well and competed in every game (other than Man city) , and heads havent dropped.
We need to a couple more players to come in Jan - this is a MUST but other than that - more of the same please Neil.

Every 'pundit' that is out there - is just pimping their opinion in order to justify their pay. So it's become almost trendy to have a dig at us, like Chris Sutton seems to want to do every time he opens his mouth in order to say something / anything that will get some headlines. Not sure why the bbc bother employing him.

It's what you do with the ball that counts, we showed what we can do hopefully a couple more wins before Christmas will come. :ayatollah:

They are happy enough for England to score their 2 goals last night from set pieces though

Not any old set pieces either. The first was from a Gunnar-type long throw.

Not too late for Greg Halford to get an England call-up now they have discovered direct football!

Exactly, and the media creamed their pants in the summer when England used route 1 to get to the semis

There were 11 or passes between city players in the build up to Patterson's goal against Brighton. Played out from the back.

Never seen prizes given out at the end of the season for "which team passes the ball the most" !!!

Surely the best stat would be who scores goals with the least passes.
