For those interested :bluescarf:

After 6 years of waiting, false promises, playing at other stadiums and still doing that, up to £6mill is being invested in to Atletico Baleares old stadium over the next couple of years and the plan is to be back home in June 2019 and the work will continue whilst at least back home :bluescarf:

Wednesday 21st November 2018

The City of Palma will finance through a subsidy of 500,000 euros the renovation of the lawn and lighting Balear Stadium

The 500,000 euros will be financed with funds from the Capitalidad Law 2018.
Next week, Cort and the Balearic Athletic Foundation will sign this agreement on behalf of the mayor, Antoni Noguera, and Ingo Volckmann, president of the white and blue club.
With this agreement, the will of the municipality is to apply the criterion of "equality", as it has done with the rest of the city's football clubs, with a sense of proportionality and with the objective of promoting grassroots sports.
Thus, the Municipal Sports Institute has installed turf and new lighting in the Antoniana, the first field of amateur Spain with LED light, and already has funding to implement the same model in the field of Verge de Lluc.
In addition, the IME is already working to gradually change the turf and lighting of other football fields in Palma over the next few years, with an approximate global investment of 6 million euros.
The objective is to plant state-of-the-art grass and LED technology lighting, to ensure complete accessibility and the adequacy of irrigation systems

That's brilliant! :thumbright: :bluescarf:

Annis, quick question but can the elite 'B' teams (I see Barcelona 'B' are doing well) be promoted to La Liga? :?

It is good news Chris, but we were promised the same last year, but I believe it will happen as I had a good chat with Atletic CEO last Sunday :bluescarf:

Yes Barcelona B or say Valencia B can be in any division, but as long as not in the same league as their first team, so they really will only ever get as far as the league above. Barcelona B have had crowds of up to 30,000, I saw Atletico Baleares beat them 3 nil two years ago :bluescarf:

Real Mallorca B were relegated two seasons only because Real Mallorca first team got relegated to their league.

Atletico Baleares division exist of plenty of first teams, plus a few massive Spanish clubs B teams.

There are a few ex La Liga clubs first teams in Atletic division now Hercules etc Real Mallorca were last season.

They have 2,200 season ticket holders, they average about 2,500 in League 3 (Segunda B), but there are 12 League 3's in Spain  thats why its so hard to win promotion to the Second Division(League below La Liga). Their current ground officially only holds 2,500, but many times I have seen over 3,000 in there.

6 play off games if they make the play offs come May or if they win the League, then 2 play off games against the other League 3 clubs.

Thats why no promotion for them from this league for 54 years.

6 years ago when they were in their real home they averaged approx 6,000.

Many fans won't go these tin pot grounds we are in now, I started liking them in their real home :thumbright:

When they return home next year the fans will turn up in bigger numbers, to be fair the ones who go now are very loyal/passionate.

About 4-5 clubs bring fans as every game is a boat or plane journey.

Boat journeys Atletic take 250 fans away, plane journeys they take from 30-150 away fans every away game.

Every time they've made the first play off away game Atletic have taken to mainland Spain usually in Madrid etc about 400-500 fans.

They are bigger supported than 95% of this division. :thumbright: :thumb right:

When they go home their new capacity will be 12,000, reduced from 20,000.
