MY VIEW:QUALITY /QUALITY TOTALLY OUTSHONE CARDIFF'S BATTLERS

MY VIEW / OPINION

QUALITY / QUALITY TOTALLY OUTSHONE CARDIFF'S BATTLERS ONCE AGAIN AWAY FROM HOME /DESPITE CARDIFF COMING BACK IN THE LAST 10MINS / WATFORD COULD OF BEEN FIVE/SIX GOALS UP / NEIL ETHERIDGE HAD KEPT CARDIFF IN THE GAME.

For at least 75mins Watford were the better team.

Cardiff goalie Neil Etheridge for me was man of the match despite Watford convincingly beating Cardiff City.

First-half Cardiff started brightly, but did not have the quality that Watford had upfront thanks to two brilliant saves by Neil Etheridge, Cardiff managed to keep the score to 1-0.

Cardiff have to bring in some quality come January, no matter what.

Watford first win in 7 games.

WATFORD 3 CARDIFF CITY 2
H/T 1-0
Crowd
Away Support 2,100 Cardiff fans :bluebird:

Cardiff City: Etheridge; Manga, Morrison (capt.), Bamba, Bennett; Gunnarsson, Arter; Hoilett, Camarasa, Murphy, Paterson.

Subs: Smithies, Peltier, Ralls, Decordova-Reid, Mendez-Laing, Harris, Zohore.

In torrential rain, Cardiff City fans sang and cheered City on from the first second of the game :thumbright: :bluebird:

A bright start from Cardiff, with plenty of pace and running at Watford, but in front of goal nothing in the first 15mins,still no quality.

17th min A magnificent solo effort from Watford player Gerard Deulofeu, ghosting through the tackles before slotting a cool finish beyond Neil Etheridge 1-0

It was given away by Gunnarsson in the middle to allow the Spaniard to pick it up and drive at Cardiff.

Etheridge mad a couple of excellent saves.

Watford finish the first-half way on top.

Thanks to Etheridge the score line was kept to 1-0.

H/T 1-0

Josh Murphy was replaced Mendez-Laing.

Neil Etheridge was called in to action early on with another good safe :bluebird:

51st min Watford scored another quality goal 2-0

58th min,Lee Peltier came on for Joe Bennett.

68 - Goal. It was a third for Watford as Quina found the corner from outside the box 3-0

72nd min there was another great save from Neil Etheridge.

A despairing Cardiff defence was doing its best to deny Watford a fourth goal...

Bobby Reid replaced Aron Gunnarsson.

80th min, Absolutely stunning goal by Junior Hoilett :bluebird: :bluebird:

Then a scramble in the Watford goal, Bobby Reid scored :bluebird: 3-2.

88th min Neil Etheridge saved again.

F/T 3-2

Too many players off their game today, remarkable that they clawed back 2 goals with their never say die attitude.
Our away form needs to change and quickly to take the pressure off our home games.

For most of this game we were second best and the players looked a little shy to put the tackle in for at least two of the goals, which put us under immense pressure!

Neil Etheridge kept the score down with some classic saves and easily (for me) Man of the Match :notworthy:

To be fair, City battled back and (another) great goal from Junior Hoillet followed by a decent goal (some say offside but it counted for a change) from Bobby Reid rocked Watford to the core. Had we been a little more composed and clinical ourselves, we may well have stolen an undeserved point from this traditionally awkward venue

A horrid day for the travelling support and I applaud them for their clearly vocal efforts!

Safe journey home everyone! :thumbright: :ayatollah:

There was definite class in the Watford team today they did do some great football at times but also think we showed the a little too much respect and let them do what they want for a bit.

Glad we got 2 goals and never gave up, at the end of the season goal diff COULD play a part but I honestly think Ful/South/Hudds will be the bottom 3 all season

Setting up to defensively is not helping us away from home we need to play like we do at home we had nothing to loose 3 0 took off gunners reid on a went for it hey presto 2 goals i just think we need to go for teams like this away from home granted they are a quality team but not top 6 and we need points away unlucky again.

Annis I think your right, Cardiff always seem to have players who will run through walls we just really lack consistensy. Deffo need more wuality in January to survive.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I am disappointed with the individual errors for the goals, but I am pleased with the way we kept going," Warnock told BBC Sport.

"We set ourselves up to be difficult to break down and I cannot legislate for individual errors. We cannot keep playing like this every week and losing - we need to get results away from home."

Time and time again we get torn apart by the clubs who have more quality in their side and we need to bring in similar players :thumbright: :bluebird:

This is in 2 parts for me.

One you can see a huge gap in quality today. That's what you get for continually recruiting well and being an established PL club.

There no shame in that and you can't knock one of our players for that. In fact it's why we back them to the end because we can all see the effort they are putting in.

The only disappointing thing for me this season in so many positives is the way we conceded goals.

Perfect example today their first goal we waited to close down until he was in the area and then it was too risky to make a tackle. Good feet but also too easy!! I personally felt Manga had one of his worst games today.

The other 2 goals we allowed free shots from just outside our area.

We have seen an improvement in our defending recently especially at home. Hopefully after a few additions and we can kick on again.

Massive positive was Etheridge today!! What a signing he's turned out to be!!
