A number of high level English clubs are keeping tabs on Ronald Sobowale - the cousin of Bayern Munich star David Alaba.

Premier League sides Watford and Cardiff City, as well as Championship outfits Reading and Sheffield Wednesday, have expressed an interest in the 21-year-old striker.

Sobowale’s father is the brother of Austria international Alaba’s father and London-born Sobowale boasts the same Nigerian heritage as the left-back.

Sobowale was a contemporary of Tammy Abraham and Dominic Solanke in the youth ranks at Chelsea before being released at the age of 15 on account of his small stature.

But he has developed into a speedy and powerful forward and is now eager to secure a professional contract following recent trials with Cardiff and Barnsley.

During his audition at Cardiff, Sobowale scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps in a trial match.

And while at Barnsley, he played and scored in a 1-1 friendly draw with South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

In the meantime, Sobowale has been playing regular football in non-league with south-west London clubs Molesey and Walton Casuals.

He has also impressed scouts who have attended showcase matches staged by the AG Football Academy based in west London. In one, he scored twice against Brentford’s B team in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

As a result, Sobowale is moving closer to following his cousin Alaba’s footsteps and turning pro.

There's our January window sorted then, one from Walton Casuals and one from Tadcaster. Things are looking up. ;)

Do Walton Casuals fancy a swap deal for Madine?

Probably not.

I believe there is also a bloke playing for Slough who was once with Barnets youth team and who scored a hat trick against Easbournes ladies reserves team a week ago who we are interested in too.
