Breaking: ' Lee Tomlin today left Cardiff City for '

Tue Dec 18, 2018 5:33 pm

On loan to Peterborough United till the end of the season :)

Lee Tomlin today started training with Posh.

BREAKING: Lee Tomlin is back at Peterborough United

Tuesday 18th December 2018

Peterborough United fans have today (December 18) received an early Christmas present with the return of talented forward Lee Tomlin to the club.

Posh have agreed to take Tomlin on loan from Premier League club Cardiff City from January 1 until the end of the season.

Posh will pay towards Tomlins wage, it is believed they will pay 20% of his current £30,000 a week wages.

He trained with the first-team today and will stay with the club while he works his way towards match fitness.

Tomlin has not played a single competitive game this season. Lee Tomlin in action for Posh.

Manager steve Evans said

“What a Christmas present for us all,” Posh boss Steve Evans enthused. “Lee was a great player for Peterborough United and he went to play well for other clubs at Championship level. “We have today reached an agreement with Cardiff to take him on loan until the end of the season as soon as the transfer window opens. “We will need to work on his match fitness, but he looked in great shape physically today and some of the things he did in training suggests he will be a great signing for us. “I cannot thank the chairman enough for making this happen. His support for me has been incredible since the day I walked in the door and this is a massive statement from him.”

Tomlin was signed by Posh from Rushden & Diamonds in August 2010 and helped the club to promotion from League One that season, scoring 11 goals. He went on to make 156 appearances for Posh, scoring 43 goals including a hat-trick in a 7-1 Championship win over Ipswich.

Shame about how is career with us went because you can see he's got all the technical ability to become a premier league player but clearly his attitude and keeping fit is a massive problem for him. Reminds me a tad of Ross McCormack tbh.

Lee Tomlin really has dropped down even lower than the Championship and at the same time cost Cardiff City a fortune.

At least McCormack had one brilliant season for us 20 odd goals :bluebird: :bluebird:

Tomlin a total waste of space.

I'm sure he could have got a champ club to pay 20%, sounds more like a refund to a club to try and enjoy football again. Let's hope it works and we can sell him on for next season.

What an idiot to let an opportunity like this go.....pfffffff

Yeah completely agree, my thought was more about McCormack at Villa and how it seems similar to Tomlin at Cardiff. Its so frustrating that a player with his obvious ability cant keep fit. All the technical ability in the world, what a waste of talent.

Absolutely a waste of a talent.
Probably does not even care, shameful.
NW must feel disappointed as well as let down

Reminds me of Fatty Trundle, waste of talent but enjoyed playing at a lower level where he looked better than he was, same might happen for Tomlin?

I've no idea how the money was reconciled, but I'm very very glad for the boy that a solution has been found and that he can continue to play football . We never know how things are going to turn out and it's a pity that they didn't work as well as we might have hoped in Lee's case.
I sincerely hope that he goes on to gain new successes with Peterborough and maybe progress beyond that. He's a very good footballer and I regret that somehow that didn't work for this club and that this club didn't work for him.

It was very sad to see his talent not being used and I'm sure all decent Cardiff supporters wish him well and will follow his future achievements with great interest.

Your all slating tomlin but even though we love the gaffer have any of you stopped to think that maybe his failure was simply down to Warnock holding a grudge over an argument it’s the only reason that makes sense really. You all mention fitness but he went and played nearly every game for half a season at forest even tho he apparently lacked ‘fitness’. Another one your all bringing up is attitude but he mentioned his desire to fight for his place numerous times not to forget every time he’s played I think he’s given nothing but his best effort.

I like to think of myself as a decent human being (who just happens to support Cardiff City) and whilst it is a pity things didn’t work out, I couldn’t care what he does regarding “future achievements” as my opinion of the guy is very low.

He’s getting paid 30k a week and doesn’t even have a base level of fitness - never mind match fitness - which I find unacceptable as a professional footballer.

We all have different opinions though and it’s what makes this message board interesting.

That’s the way I see things with this guy as well.
When we signed him I was quite excited as I love to watch skilful players as opposed to workhorses. I love the sneaky passes, nutmegs, etc.
However, when I see this self inflicted moron wasting his talent it pisses me off and the sycophantic posts of this guy comes across as just naive.

same here but was already disappointed in him after game1 in Burton , there were brief glimpses of talent but they were accompanied by lots of fat bloke jogging moments..

the post I replied to he was describing how I feel towards players like Rhys Healy {plagued by injury who always seems to nearly make it but does not due to no fault of his own } and Bryson who we would probably signed had we not gone up. not some half arsed fat slug..
as for sirjimmy, what a mixed up kid. I think what sums him up best was when he started a thread about how irritating he found it when posters didn't grasp the difference between to and too all while not knowing the difference between Jimmy Scoular and Schoular himself. no doubt he will be along with some elaborate 2 page explanation shortly

We were talking somewhere here about IQ levels - How much intelligence is needed to realise that you'd change the spelling a bit of a name which you wanted to use because the original version was taken ?
I knew Jimmy Scoular, so I'm certainly not ' a kid'. Who was I sycophantic toward ? No one, it's not my style and I've never done it so you're probably just using six dollar words which you don't understand .
Since I've not long woken up and I'm in a bad mood, I won't wrap this up - listening to some little tosser who can't speak English and has probably never faced any serious challenge call any professional athelete a fat slug is an insult to grown ups everywhere.
The idea of a football forum is to discuss football and sometimes other issues , not to launch personal attacks on other contributors from behind your keyboard, or for that matter call players names which I know you wouldn't call them to their faces. That's the computer equivalent of chucking things on to the pitch and I think Eric Cantona had an effective cure for it.
It's even more pathetic when you get together with your little chums to do it, but just so you know , it doesn't make you look big.

I'm surprised that nobody has questioned Warnock on this signing. He knew about the court case and didn't insist on Tomlin moving from
Leicester. Warnock saw him as our marquee signing and compared him to Taarabt at QPR. With Madine he ranks as a huge blunder on our manager's part. It sounds very similar to OGS signing Le Fondre....total disaster.
