Cardiff City have made a bid for the Belgian league's top goal scorer Mbwana Samatta, according to reports.

Respected French news outlet France Football claim the Bluebirds have offered €13million for the Genk striker, who has netted 15 times in the Jupiler Pro League.

The same report says Cardiff have been "scarred" by their knock-backs in pursuit of Nantes forward Emiliano Sala and have instead turned their attention to Tanzania captain Samatta.

Samatta has won admirers leading the line for Genk this season and Fenerbahce have also been linked - though it is claimed Genk will reject bids.



The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Middlesbrough in the summer but has since taking Belgian football by storm, racking up 15 goals in just 20 appearances.

Neil Warnock is desperate to sign a striker to boost his side's survival bid, with Sala a top target along with Everton's Oumar Niasse.

Cardiff will hope to wrap up a permanent deal for a new frontman before exploring other transfer targets in the right-back and central midfield positions.

Belgian side Genk have rejected a €13m bid from Premier League side Cardiff City for 26-year-old Tanzanian attacking talent Mbwana Samatta, according to France Football.

Samatta is currently the Belgian 1st division’s top scorer, netting 15 goals in 20 matches and having scored 9 goals in 10 Europa League matches this season – in unbelievable form.

This was the Welsh side’s opening bid, but there is no indication at the time of writing as to whether or not they will be submitting another.

Cardiff City have registered an interest in Genk striker Mbwana Samatta who is the Belgian first division's top scorer.

The 26-year-old was poised to join Schalke but that deal is on hold after Cardiff proposed a £13m offer.

The Tanzanian striker has plundered 57 goals in 142 games for the Belgian club across four seasons.The hitman moved to Genk from Congolese side TP Mazembe in 2016, having started his career with Simba SC in his homeland.

Samatta, born in Dar Es Salaam, has scored 17 times in 45 appearances for Tanzania having made his international debut aged 18.

Cardiff also remain in talks with Nantes striker Emiliano Sala ahead of his proposed £20m move.

I think this is either a back up plan incase it goes tits up with sala or to remind sala that we will move on i soubt if we qould sign the 2 with zohore on the verge of a comeback.

Warnock just ask him if he want to sign if them tel him to F off. Same with any other potential signing.
