NEIL WARNOCK: ' RADIO INTERVIEW '

Everything Neil Warnock said in radio interview as Cardiff City boss talks Leeds United 'spygate', transfers and Newcastle United

Neil Warnock brushed off two of football's recent controversies as he was asked about his Brexit comments and the Leeds United 'spygate' scandal in an interview this morning.

The Cardiff City boss also spoke about getting transfers in, as well as the upcoming trip to Newcastle United.

Warnock would love to sign a striker and get a win at St James' Park to bring smiles back to Bluebirds fans' faces in the next week.

This is everything he said in conversation with Alan Brazil and David Seaman on talkSPORT's breakfast show...

Wednesday 16th January 2019

Brazil and Seman begin by mentioning those Brexit comments...

Warnock jokes: "Don't get me involved anymore, you're not talking to me about Brexit are you?!"

Neil, Newcastle got a fair few injuries in the FA Cup last night?

Warnock: "We've all got injuries at this time of the year, it's been a long season and the players are put through everything. We've got about four or five out ourselves, but we've got to patch them up a bit and get on with it.

"Newcastle have still got a few very good forwards. It'll be a tough game."

Cardiff are 17th, would you have taken that at the start of the season?

Warnock: "Yeah, it's probably beyond our expectations. The teams down there were all predicted, apart from maybe Newcastle and Southampton, so it's a battle.

"But all you can ask is your lads give you everything.

"We were poor last weekend (against Huddersfield) but I played three lads who probably weren't fit enough and shouldn't have played. I gambled and it didn't work to be honest.

"The intensity of the Premier League, the physical aspect is quite remarkable. It's no shock when muscle injuries happen and things like that.

"We've lost a couple when we've brought them on as a sub and they've got injured straight away.

"So we're looking at better warm ups and things like that. It can't be coincidental these lads come on and get injured."

What did you make of David Wagner leaving Huddersfield? Surprised?

"Not surprised at all, having been in the situation he's been in. They came up last season and we're doing what they did now.

"It's so hard every day in training, and so difficult for clubs like Huddersfield and Cardiff especially with the finances.

"The problem with our clubs is that we've come up that quickly, we aren't up to scratch with everything you need in the Premier League to move forward.

"It's been as hard a season as I've known this one.

"We've got to try and bring one or two into the squad, that's all we can do.

And the Leeds spy-gate scandal? Has that ever happened to you?

"I was asked this week 'what would you do if someone came to watch us' - and I'd just encourage them because it'd confuse them!

"It's one of those things.

"Everybody gets accused at some stage of doing something, it happens.

"I don't think it actually affects the result of the game, just an eye-opener really on what you can do."

To me it was as if he said "look lads I'll come on but don't ask me about transfers" because why wouldn't they?

He must be their most used manager for interviews.
