Sala IS set to play for Nantes tonight

As we reported earlier, it had been claimed in some circles that Emilano Sala was due to pull out of the Nantes squad for tonight’s clash with Nimes.

It now appears as though the striker is set to play for the Ligue 1 outfit after all, with the club posting this on their official Twitter page.

Nantes: Sala, Cardiff annoyed the club!

By Damien Da Silva - The 16/01/2019

After his visit to Cardiff on Monday, FC Nantes forward Emiliano Sala (28, 18 games and 12 goals in L1 this season) has agreed to join the current 17th Premier League. But the Argentinian is still very far from the Welsh formation according to the information of the regional daily Ouest-France this Wednesday!

Indeed, while the two teams had found in recent weeks an agreement in principle for a transfer estimated at 22 million euros, Cardiff has lowered its offer to 15 million euros. Obliged to share 50% of a future sale with Bordeaux because of a negotiated clause during the summer of 2015, Nantes really did not appreciate this rebound and thus stopped the discussions with the Premier League club! Of course, the situation of Sala can still evolve until January 31

Nantes 'call off' Cardiff City negotiations over Emiliano Sala after rejecting £13 mill bid — reports

The French striker was seemingly on the verge of a transfer to Cardiff City

Wednesday 16th January 2019

Nantes have 'called off' transfer negotiations with Cardiff City over a deal for striker Emiliano Sala, according to reports in France.

Several French media outlets, including Ouest-France , are reporting that Cardiff's offer of £13million has been rejected by the Ligue 1 side.

It is reported that they want a figure nearer £20million for the 28-year-old forward.

Sala has 18 months remaining on his Nantes contract and met Bluebirds officials on Monday evening for "constructive talks".

After initially being wary of a move to Cardiff, reports emerged that the Argentine striker was keen to move, before this latest snag.

The French media report said: "According to our information, FC Nantes has closed the negotiations with the Welsh club. Currently 17th in the Premier League, Cardiff had made for several weeks, Emiliano Sala, 12 goals in Ligue 1 since the beginning of the season, his priority.

"The player, involved in 50 per cent of Canaris goals this season (two assists in addition to these achievements) even went to visit the facilities of the club and spoke with coach Neil Warnock, Monday afternoon."

No way should be paying that ridiculous fee, time to move on, we did our best, increase our bid for Mbwana Samatta!

this cant be correct surely.?
all these negotiations, the player having now agreed and been over here with the full knowledge of his club.
yet the clubs are miles apart on a figure.?

Enough messing about.
Everton expressed dissapointment that we'd pulled out of Niasse so let's just go and get him. We know he can do the job

I suspect Tottenham might have reignited their interest in the player because of injury to Kane so they're probably seeing dollar signs

Wouldn’t believe everything you read, this has come from a random french reporter on twitter and then wales online picked it up. Same as always. I don’t think Warnock and Dalman are stupid enough to lower the bid by 7m over night, very extreme. Keep the faith!

Re: “ Sala deal off ???? “

All the previous reports were saying the fee was all agreed and it was down to the player so I find this hard to believe/understand...

I'll be surprised if he's not on the bench for Saturday.

Re: “ Sala deal off ???? “

That’s fake news, the french site is known for getting a lot of stuff wrong and trying and throw a hat in the ring to get some attention. Warnock will watch sala tonight and we will finish the deal off. Newcastle may be off due to snow allthough that’s unlikely, we can still buy that mwbamma swmatta or whatever his name is, but at the end of the day it’s FAKE NEWS

Re: “ Sala deal off ???? “

Wed Jan 16, 2019 10:33 am

So we won't pay an additional £5m-£7m to secure the deal, which could potentially keep us in the Prem, which has massive financial benefits, ffs, get a grip

Re: “ Sala deal off ???? “

Wed Jan 16, 2019 10:33 am

I'm not blaming anyone but it'll be a right kick in the plums if we haven't got a striker in to face Newcastle. The potential for points will not come much easier and could come back and bite us at the end of the season.Really gutting if true.

One might think a fee was agreed when the club is allowed to talk to a player. If true either City want to pay less, or Nantes want more money knowing how desperate we are. Either way we need to target options ASAP.

I have a good source and the deal is still alive, there are 3 parties involved in the negotations which is hard trying to get everything sorted, i was advised the player is VERY KEEN to sign for City, and it could be a couple of days before any deal is struck.
Hopefully he will be signed in time for the Newcastle game.

Our inability to close a deal is embarrassing !! Do we have armatures negotiating them

Have Nantes 'called off' negotiations?

Despite the wording of those media reports in France that Nantes have ‘called off’ negotiations with Cardiff City over Emiliano Sala, a word of caution.

Those are translations, so what’s important and clear is that the French side have rejected the Bluebirds’ bid of around £13million.

This saga isn’t quite over, with Cardiff surely set to lodge another offer if they want to land their man.

Not bothered in anything that the media have to say. They are not conducting the negotiations. I pay no attention one way or the other to any guesswork that the media come out with. Once something is either agreed or knocked on the head, the club will issue a statement. Until then, I will take everything as no more than second hand gossip.

Didn’t Dalman say that the final fee was £18m, in his recent statement. With an add on for keeping us up, that should be near enough 20m - 22m Euros that Nantes want.

What do you know about City's negotiating team and their methods. Getting the right player at the right price under a tight budget and not being bullied in return seems the professional thing to do

We're still waiting on the currently disappearing Rydgosccffc for 'official' news on whether the deal is going ahead or not, so don't believe anything else until the wise owl has spoken ;)

Seems you could be the armature (or was it arm-a-chair) with that comment, fella! :laughing6:

Nah Chris.
Ask Nantes what they want and pay up straight away. Same with the player / agent.

If it was actually off then I'd have expected a statement from the club in these circumstances where they've made public statements already . No one knows , but it's certainly dragging on to a point where everyone's patience must be strained.

Those who think that he or anyone else is likely to be playing at Newcastle obviously don't understand football . You can't just put a man in who hasn't even trained with the team at the top level.
