Cardiff City looked set to miss out on Adrien Tameze after holding talks with Ligue 1 side Nice.


Adrien Tameze was expected to sign for Cardiff City this month – only for the move to collapse a week ago.

According to the Mail, the Bluebirds agreed a £10 million deal with Ligue 1 outfit Nice to sign the versatile midfielder, who has been compared to Jean Michel Seri on the back of an impressive breakthrough season.

But the report added that the deal fell through when negotiations broke down.


Having said that, it might be too soon to rule out the prospect of Tameze making the move to South Wales in the January transfer window.

Because, according to BBC Radio Wales (16 January, 7:00pm), Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman was in France on Wednesday to watch Nice’s 1-1 draw away at Monaco. And Tameze produced another impressive performance against Thierry Henry’s side, setting up Nice’s first-half opener.


It remains to be seen what Dalman was doing in the principality but it would be no surprise if he had made the trip across The Channel in order to kick-start negotiations with Patrick Vieira’s side.

If a fee has already been agreed, it seems that Nice are willing to sell Tameze – reluctantly or otherwise.

Watched the game last night, he wasn't involved much. I was expecting him to be a defensive holding midfield player but the little he did was getting forward

He went off injured near the end of the game. Hope it's nothing serious if it is him we are looking at. It could be Youcef Atal the right back for Nice that Dalman went to see....or both!!!!

Not sure if Mehmet Dalman made a special trip to see this player as Companies House lists his country of residence as Monaco.
