BBC Artircle On Swansea City Finances

Interesting read and sounds familiar about paying the price for previous managers/board signings. Also how the buys in January were desperation and paid over the odds.

Hopefully our permanent signings will work out and we won’t have overpaid as this window is notorious  :ayatollah:

Lessons to be learned from both the Swansea experience and our own from last time out, Dobbin

Another lesson is to be careful who you bank with and realising employing Harry Potter as your manager isn't as magical as it might first appear...

As the old saying goes, Quidditch it ain't! ;)

Doesn't make much sense they sold players for more than they bought to replace them with. So usually had net profit not much maybe but a profit! And on relegation they replaced lots high earners with under 23s or lower league players, just goes to show cannot over spend even with 120m or so income guaranteed. :old:

I think it makes good reading for those who expect Cardiff to spend money as if it's going out of fashion. There may be a lot of money in the PL, but it is all relative. Cost of buying quality players is that much more, wages are much higher, and taxes and running costs still have to be paid. Easy to spend money, still get relegated, and spend years trying to sort out finances. It's a fine balancing act, and I think City are trying to live within their means rather than gamble big time and risk lower league football for the next decade.
