I know its bizzare, unfortunately we either have to wait till they find the plane, bodies or them both alive.

What else is on his facebook page? Why are there reports he passed security but didn't end up flying?

For example what if the one pilot became unwell, had a heart attack, a stroke anything really. Strange situation.

Not every plane. It's to do with the size of the plane etc

I do find that odd though like I said what if the pilot had a heart attack at any point. I suppose that's the same as a fighter jet or red arrow but still.

Even the horrible little Anglesey plane Cardiff airport used to have had two pilots.

From Uk Yahoo 29 mins ago - more confusion!! Who exactly was flying the plane if David Henderson wasnt??

Pilot David Henderson, who was wrongly attributed to have been the on board the plane with Emiliano Sala has previously described the danger of flying the Piper Malibu PA-46.
Henderson told the BBC in 2015 about the dangers of ice build-up and that if it became too great on the propeller and wings, it would ultimately not fly.
The plane may have descended to attempt to get rid of the ice in warmer air.

From 2300’ it could have glided for about 12-15 miles at min drag speed. However, if he kept the speed up to try and relight the engine that would, most likely, be reduced as would the opportunity of sending a distress call. Having neoprene suits is all well and good providing they were wearing them at touchdown in the water. That, of course, is assuming they survived the landing. There are far too many variables in a night landing on rough water to assume a successful outcome and, all things considered, I would suggest it highly unlikely they are still alive at this moment. Also, if they had turned back, successfully landed, etc I would suggest they would have made contact with the outside world by now. However, all things are possible until definite proof of their situation is found.

Radio said at around the height the plane was at, estimated 4-5 mins gliding time, but it would be impossible to see the water and make a smooth landing.

Now named as Dave Ibbotson - you can see where the confusion could have happened with Henderson

The pilot who is missing along with Emiliano Sala has now been named as Dave Ibbotson.

Mr Ibbotson, from North Lincolnshire, and new Cardiff City signing Sala, are both unaccounted for after the light aircraft they were travelling in disappeared from radar near the Channel Islands

No disrespect meant, but he seems to be a lot less experienced than the pilot originally named. Looks like he only flew part-time. Absolute madness for an overwater flight, at night, in poor conditions.

Taken from a pilots forum

"It is understood Mr Ibbotson, had been hired along with the Norfolk-registered single engine plane, by Sala’s representatives to fly the player to Cardiff after he had said his farewells to team-mates at his old club Nantes.
Mr Ibbotson, who worked as a gas engineer based in Crowle, is believed to have had extensive experience carrying parachute enthusiasts on flights from private airfields.
One picture shows him him at the controls of a light aircraft in a selfie with a parachute jumper."

Ideal chap to be flying a complex single at night, IFR in dodgy icing conditions. Sala's reps and the owner of the aircraft have some serious questions to answer if this is true. After 30 years as a professional pilot with all the checks you have to pass along the way I can't believe that such stupidity is still going on. And organisations like Wingly, Grant Shaps red tape challenge and the supine attitude of the CAA have done nothing to enhance safety.

I am so angry at the death of Mr Sala. Save a few quid, probably break any number of laws, kill someone. What a disgusting waste of life and talent.

The pilot of the missing private plane chartered by a top football agent and containing Cardiff striker Emiliano Sala told a friend he was 'a bit rusty' with the equipment just hours before the doomed flight, it emerged today.

British pilot David Ibbotson, 60, checked into Nantes Atlantique Airport shortly before take-off before admitting to a friend on Facebook he was 'rusty' with the plane's landing system.

The plane was chartered by the family of one of Britain's top agents who had a hand in the £15million deal, it was also revealed today.

Scottish-born Willie McKay, who lives in Monaco, is not Sala's representative but his son Mark is said to have helped with brokering the transfer between Cardiff and Nantes as well as his flight from France to Wales.

Mr McKay Sr is one of Britain's best known football agents and has made millions helping top French stars move to England's top leagues as well as managing Premier League stars including Joey Barton.

His son Mark has also been involved in a number of high-profile transfers including Dimitri Payet's £10.7million move to West Ham.

The privately-owned Piper Malibu aircraft, registered to a company in Norfolk, appears to have crashed into the sea near Alderney on Monday night with rescuers today revealing there is 'no hope' of survival.

This will out once the final report is produced (sadly not for some months yet) and the suddenly hermit-like Mr Henderson will be having some sleepless nights, if any of that is correct... :(
