The £130,000-a-week private island where Gareth Bale and his childhood sweetheart will marry this summer

Tuesday 19th February 2019

Gareth Bale is set to marry his childhood sweetheart on the exclusive £130,000-a-week private island where they got engaged.

Wales and Real Madrid ace Bale and partner Emma Rhys-Jones have been together since they were pupils at Whitchurch High School in Cardiff.

They had been due to marry at Vincigliata Castle in Tuscany last year.

Instead the nuptials are set to take place on the tiny island of Tagomago, according to reports.

The island, just half a mile from Ibiza, holds special memories for the couple. It is where Bale popped the question to Emma back in 2016 during his 27th birthday celebrations, proving the perfect icing on the cake after Wales' Euro 2016 exploits.

The couple now have three children, Alba Violet, Nava Valentina, and son Axel, born last year.

The island — priced from £130,000 a week — is billed as a "sensual space offering complete privacy and tranquility only half a mile from the buzz of Ibiza".

It can be reached by boat or helicopter, and covers 148 acres of "unspoilt nature", and has a lighthouse where guests can enjoy sunsets on the Mediterranean.

The resort offers a single villa including five luxury double suites, a helipad, its own swimming pool, jacuzzi, a jetty with private mooring for a boat, and terraces with gorgeous sea views, according to myprivatevillas.com.

A yacht can also be chartered for an extra cost.

The Sun report the pair will get hitched on the island this summer, with a second celebration being planned for Cardiff for those unable to make it to the island wedding.

Only 150 guests will be permitted to attend, with Bale's Wales teammates likely to be among the lucky guests, with The Sun quoting a source as saying: "Uninvited guests have no chance of getting ashore". It is reported ex-SAS soldiers will be hired to secure the island for the event.

Bale’s ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and former Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood are among the stars said to have used Tagomago in the past.
