Premises in Nantes and Paris have been targeted by investigators

French media are reporting premises in the club's home city and in Paris were targeted by national financial prosecutors on Tuesday.

The Paris National Public Prosecutor's Office has confirmed the opening of an investigation amid reports the probe centres around an alleged tax evasion case against owner Waldemar Kita.

It comes as the French club are embroiled in a financial dispute with Cardiff City over the £15m transfer fee for Emiliano Sala, who was tragically killed in a plane crash at the end of last month.

Nantes have demanded the first £5m down payment of the £15m record fee the Bluebirds agreed for the Argentine striker.

Cardiff have emphasised they will do the right thing with regards to the transfer fee, but want the facts set out before deciding how to proceed. Chairman Mehmet Dalman has been quoted in the Sunday Telegraph as saying: "We believe that the player was not registered with the Premier League."

They have also sent letters to Everton , West Ham and Crystal Palace to ascertain whether that trio of Premier League rivals had any interest in signing Sala.

The move centres around concerns agent Willie McKay told Sala he had planted stories about interest from other clubs "in order to create an interest around you".

Cardiff continue to seek more details of McKay's tie-up with Nantes and their owner.

People will still say there’s nothing wrong and we should just pay.

Ban agents from football. If players are to thick to negotiate their own contracts then that is their fault

I'm one of them, and most people I know agree with me.

:occasion5:
Clubs agree a fee, then player gets permission to discuss terms. Simple as that. If all Premier league clubs stopped dealing with agents the rest would follow.
