How the players who left Cardiff City in January transfer window have fared at their new clubs

Here's how they've fared since moving away from Cardiff in the January window...

Lee Tomlin

In true Tomlin style, the enigmatic No.10 has already scored a goal and been sent off on his return to Peterborough United.

The League One side were very excited to announce that Tomlin had 'come home' to London Road, though the former Bristol City star is clearly a little rusty having spent half of the season out of Cardiff's 25-man Premier League squad.

Tomlin remains one of Warnock's biggest transfer disappointments, having arrived at Cardiff as the marquee signing of 2017.

And, now 30, he'll need to turn in consistent performances in League One if he's to resurrect his career.

Gary Madine

Madine is back in the goals.

Having spent a year in the goal-scoring wilderness at Cardiff — missing a crucial penalty at Wolves, failing to justify his £6million transfer fee and leaving after less than a year in south Wales — he secured a loan move to Warnock's old club Sheffield United.

And despite a backlash from some Blades fans , who were unhappy with boss Chris Wilder for signing a player with past links to fierce rivals Sheffield Wednesday, Madine has started well.

He scored two in a 4-0 Blades rout of lowly Reading at the weekend.

They were Madine's first strikes since netting for old club Bolton against Cardiff in December 2017.

The 28-year-old will be hoping to kick on and use his loan stint at Bramall Lane to secure a permanent move in the Championship, where he's most comfortable.

Anthony Pilkington

'Pilks' left the Bluebirds with a heavy heart in January, agreeing to cancel his contract (which had six months to run) by mutual consent and join Wigan Athletic.

And it was a dream start for the Irish international at the DW Stadium.

He played a starring role in the Latics' shock 3-0 win over Aston Villa on debut, laying on a superb assist after an eye-catching piece of skill to wow home fans.

It has been a little slower going for Pilkington since that rocket-fast start. He's been in and out of Paul Cook's side during a mixed run of form.

Omar Bogle

Bogle of course has been away on loan all season.

But he was released from his temporary deal at Birmingham City — where he endured a goalless spell of 14 games before finally finding the net in his penultimate Blues appearance — to join Portsmouth in January.

It's fair to say his move to Fratton Park has already been more productive.

Bogle has scored twice in four games for the League One promotion-chasers, quickly winning admirers among the Pompey fans and going viral with an outrageous piece of skill against Plymouth.

The striker is something of a forgotten figure among Cardiff supporters. But there's no doubt he's a talented footballer, as he's showing.

The others

Young Bluebirds midfielder James Waite joined Hereford on deadline day, though is yet to have a major impact for the Bulls.

Meanwhile Ibrahim Meite (released) has joined Crawley but failed to make an appearance so far.

McKay twins Jack and Paul have joined Chesterfield and Morecambe on loan respectively and played a combined 22 minutes for the National League and League Two clubs since their January moves.

Promising young Jack Bodenham is making his mark with The New Saints in the Welsh Premier League.

i can see bogle coming back and playing a part if we are relegated. the rest are dead wood, but we may struggle to find a club for madine as i hear his wages are high.

a lot of people had a pop at him but for me pilkington deserves respect for giving 100% when called upon last season and coming up with a couple of crucial goals.
