Gareth Bale treatment from Real Madrid fans 'a disgrace', says forward's agent

Bale has won four Champions Leagues with Real Madrid

Gareth Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has launched a scathing attack on Real Madrid fans, saying their treatment of his player is "nothing short of a disgrace".

Bale was jeered by the home crowd on Saturday when replaced by Marco Asensio in the 61st minute as Real suffered their second defeat to rival Barcelona in just four days.

Having watched Real suffer a third successive home defeat for the first time since 2004, the home fans turned on Bale who had touched the ball just 20 times in the game before being substituted.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports News, Barnett said: "This generation of Real fans will be talking about Gareth's goals for years to come. Frankly they should be ashamed of themselves.

"Gareth deserves the greatest of respect. The way the Real fans have treated Gareth is nothing short of a disgrace.

"In the six years he has been in Spain, he has won everything. He's one of the best players in the world. Those fans should be kissing his feet."

Bale has won four Champions League winner's medals and scored 101 goals in 218 appearances since joining Real from Tottenham for £85m in 2013.

Last week, the 29-year old grabbed the headlines after refusing to celebrate his winner at Levante - shunning the congratulations of Lucas Vazquez in the process.

The Spanish press have not helped Bale's cause, claiming the forward has a "disgraceful attitude" and showed "impertinence and arrogance".

Speculation also persists that he has struggled to learn Spanish and does not socialise with his team-mates.

But Barnett added: "Despite what the Spanish press are reporting, he's happy, he speaks reasonable Spanish and there is no problem between him and the rest of the Real players. The people writing these things know nothing about him.

"There has not been one single discussion about Gareth leaving Madrid. He isn't going anywhere this summer. Despite what's been reported, he's content, he wants to stay at Real and they want him."

A bit dramatic from the agent isn't it?

Ronaldo left and nobody was there to fill the void, no doubts Ronaldo's departure is why Real Madrid struggle now. Real Madrid is a very unique club in the fans expect to win every game! Perhaps it's time Bale came home if it's too hot in the kitchen :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Worst fans in the world mind, have they forgotten his overhead kick in the champions league already? Just to name one of many crucial goals he has scored. Time to leave me thinks

2 years ago the Madrid fans stoned Bales car.

NO PREM MOVE FOR BALE

However, Barnett believes a move back to the Premier League is a non-starter for Bale because of his wage demands.

The former Tottenham man would cost £150million plus £650,000 a week in wages, according to The Sun. "No one could afford him," added Barnett.

Agree with you about that paper.

But there are quotes from the agent, which makes it legit.

I’m not sure he could handle the hurly burly of the premiership these days.
His fitness and body is knackered.

I’m not sure I agree with you on that, la liga in my opinion is far more demanding and higher tempo than the premier league.

I think the opposite where La Liga is still less tempo in general although it’s certainly not as ‘slow’ as it once was. The tackling is still a lot tougher in the Premier as well but again that’s levelling out unfortunately.

they kept bale last summer because ronaldo left. it looks like things have run its course there for bale, although he holds all the cards due to his massive, long term contract. every premier league team would take him, plus teams across europe. the problem is the financially it's a huge deal, and he isnt quite at the level he was 2-3 years ago.
