' Not good Gary Madine '

Wed Mar 13, 2019 9:38 am

Sheffield United may have defeated Brentford 2-0 on Tuesday but supporters had a bone pick with one player on social media.

Wednesday 13th March 2019

Attacker Gary Madine on loan from Cardiff City,who cost the Welsh club £6million, was sent off in the 35th minute for a needless foul and loads of Sheffield United fans rightly fumed.

While many let the 28-year-old know that his red card was needless and it was a reckless challenge by him, others weren’t impressed before he got his marching orders.

One fan claimed that Madine ruined the way their side played and while another moaned that the team just hoofed the ball up to him.

Madine does thrive as being a target man for the club which sees long balls played into him, but that doesn’t warrant him being slammed. All clubs should have a plan B up their sleeves when it comes to their attacking options and that is what the 28-year-old forward represents.

If Billy Sharp can’t find a way to weave through an opponent’s defence then having Madine to call upon is very useful. However the only issue with that idea now, is that Madine is set to be suspended after picking up a red card.

Jonzy.
@Jonzysufc
Madine should have thought about next week before lunging in for that stupid tackle, not necessary at all. Put us on the back foot for the rest of the game that has. #sufc

@BrettBrookes

Tough second half awaits at the Lane. Madine stupid to lunge in like that. Better off with Hulk Hogan up top on his own!! I’d take a 1-0 now!!

@Dirkdigby
Part of me is glad Madine has been sent off as since he has joined, we have hoofed it time and time again. Lets get back to what we know and the pressing game.

those sound a bit like the anti Mozza nutters on here tbh..
plenty of normal SUFC fans thought the red card harsh and that he will be a big miss for them.

The foul was pointless right by touchline halfway came in from back studs raised cought player on calfs, they did well to survive and win.

Allan, I don’t rate Madine and I don’t like his attitude either.

Personally, I wouldn’t want him back
I’ve watched a few of their games and he still looks a bit of a useless lump.

he went very early in the January window with half a dozen championship clubs keen on taking him on loan.. had we wanted rid I think we would have held out to sell , very much like what Bolton did.
so I think we will be seeing him here next season should we fail to stay up.

If we do go down I doubt we’d be able to get Niasse but I’d prefer him or a similar type who is more mobile.

Thank goodness that's all it is. When I first read the strapline I thought it was gonna read "Not good Gary Madine ....he's returning to us"! Phew, panic over!

Problem is Gary Madine is a problem player as well, what I have heard.
