Sat Mar 23, 2019 11:31 am

According to the Echo:

If Wales don't make the top 2 we need three of the following to qualify from their groups to claim a Nations League play off place (based on rankings)

Bosnia,Denmark,Sweden,Ukraine, Russia, Austria

Obviously

There's another back door which could possibly be easier to get through. The play off's for the League A will be under populated with most qualifying directly or potentially just Iceland in them. It will be made up if necessary from teams who havent qualified directly or for the play offs from league B or even league C.

I think we would end up in a very difficult league B play off where as Ireland could end up in a very easy league A play off. It would take an almost miracle for Wales to miss out on the play offs but to be honest everything about these play offs is a nightmare.

Only 1 out of 4 will qualify.

Unless your the top seed in your respective play off group your in the dark as to where you could be playing until the last minute. They're single leg affairs so for instance you could play the semifinal on the Thursday not knowing where your playing the final on the Sunday.

Then there's the finals themselves. You wont know your there until 4 months after the rest of your group and only 3 months before the tournament starts. Hotels rooms will be gone or at a ridiculous premium and flights between the cities much the same.

its a bit more complicated as we could also end up in league A play offs.. but the long and short of it is at the very least we should end up in play offs. its designed so the better teams are less likely to not qualify.
