Jürgen Klopp:

Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both in good condition with Klopp admitting it’s good to have them back in training.

Dejan Lovren is available for this weekend’s trip to Cardiff.

Jurgen says he felt sorry for Manchester City in the manner of their Champions League exit but praised rivals Tottenham.

He also had some nice words about Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Jürgen Klopp:

Cardiff Chances

“If Cardiff had lost against Brighton it would have almost been finished but now it all starts again.

“Cardiff believe in their chance and I would be the same. We have to show we are ready for a different and difficult battle again.”

Klopp: "Each set-piece will be a scoring opportunity for Cardiff. It will be difficult. They were really unlucky v Chelsea."

Massive Job

“It’s always a challenge but it’s not anymore because we are used to it.

“Playing like we have been doing through the weeks it’s always pretty positive but at the weekend we have to be ready.

“Barcelona, huh? Before then it’s Cardiff and Huddersfield and that’s exactly the same importance to us than the game after that.

“It’s all good. We know there’s a massive job at the weekend.”

Man City Blow

“It’s unbelievable. I really felt for them.

“I know some people said without VAR it’s a clear goal but we’re still having discussions about it.

“It was offside in the moment but it was tough to take. Big compliments to Tottenham.

“I said at the start of the season they had the toughest summer not because they didn’t sign anyone but because they only had two weeks off.

“To score three at City, of course they deserve it. Whether it has an influence on the league I have no idea. We will see that.”

Tired Legs?

“We are not tired. It’s a decisive period of the season. That’s good that you are involved in two more competitions.

“We are still in the CL and title race. We are not tired.

“Training is low intensity because we don’t have to do a lot because the boys know it.

“We have a little session tomorrow and then we go to Cardiff.

“We analyse, work and go for it. We create the basis but there is a moment you have to use it and we are in that.”

Gomez to Start?

“We will see - there are a lot of players with rhythm,” Jurgen Klopp replies.

Positive Talk

“I understand you want to talk about the positivities of the season but we only talk about the next opponent, the next chance.”

Mohamed Salah Praise

“He is a role model in so many different things.

“It’s really, really nice to have him and Sadio as well.

“Both are Muslims and live that as well in a world where these things are very often discussed in a dangerous manner or way, as in ‘they are like this’ or ‘they are like that’.

“We know it’s not true but it’s nice to have someone around full of love.

“He is doing what he is doing around his religion in the middle of the dressing room and is sensational around all the boys.”

“Dejan Lovren should be available.

“There’s nothing new for anyone after the Porto game. They should be all in.”

Cardiff Assessment

“We will probably have the ball a bit more, and that’s what we have to use.

“Be careful of counter-attacks, each set-piece will be a scoring opportunity for Cardiff.

“They are now in a good moment. Lots thought they were done a couple of weeks ago.”

Re: Jürgen Klopp:

Marathon Not a Sprint

“”We do what we can to train in exactly the right way.

“If you go for a big goal, you don’t feel any (tiredness). It’s like a marathon.

“If you are 40km in and out in front you don’t think about the 40, only what’s to come.

“That’s rather how we feel in the moment.”

VIEW FROM THE DUGOUT
Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock: "We just want to give a good performance and not get a battering really.

"If we freeze and make a mistake early on, we may as well go home. They will just pick you off. That's what you get with quality players."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "These are all massive games. None of them are won before we start.

"Everybody thinks a lot about Barcelona but before Barcelona it's Cardiff and Huddersfield, and it's exactly the same importance to us as the other games."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists Cardiff City clash is as important as Barcelona Champions League semi-final

Klopp describes Liverpool as being in worse positions going into match with Cardiff City

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists this weekend's game against Cardiff City is as important to them as their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

The Bluebirds' fight to avoid Premier League relegation is very much on after a rejuvenating 2-0 win over Brighton , leaving them just two points adrift.

They now welcome Premier League title chasers Liverpool to the Welsh capital on Sunday (4pm kick-off).

Both managers held pre-match press conferences on Friday, with Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock giving his verdict on tickets for Sunday's game selling at £1,000 on resale sites - saying it shows how far the club has come.

Reds manager Klopp, speaking to the media on Merseyside ahead of travelling to Cardiff on Saturday, maintains Liverpool are viewing this weekend's clash with the same significance as their looming mouthwatering Champions League showdown with Barca.

"If Cardiff had lost against Brighton it would have almost been finished but now it all starts again," said Klopp.

"Cardiff believe in their chance and I would be the same. We have to show we are ready for a different and difficult battle again.

"It’s always a challenge but it’s not any more because we are used to it.

"Playing like we have been doing through the weeks it’s always pretty positive, but at the weekend we have to be ready."

Asked about Liverpool's first Champions League semi-final leg against Barcelona on May 1, the Liverpool manager said: "Barcelona, huh? Before then it’s Cardiff and Huddersfield and that’s exactly the same importance to us as the game after that.

"It’s all good. We know there’s a massive job at the weekend."

The Liverpool manager says there will be a “little session” on Saturday before the squad head down to Cardiff.

"We will probably have the ball a bit more, and that’s what we have to use.

"Be careful of counter-attacks, each set-piece will be a scoring opportunity for Cardiff.

"They are now in a good moment. Lots thought they were done a couple of weeks ago.

"Each set-piece will be a scoring opportunity for Cardiff. It will be difficult. They were really unlucky v Chelsea."

At Warnock's press briefing in Cardiff, the veteran boss said: "We’ve just got to try and give a good account of ourselves for the fans that are going because it’s a sellout and it probably could’ve sold out twice more as well.

"It’s going to be a great day but I don’t want it to be a lovely occasion and we still get battered. A good performance will stand us in good stead for the next few games.

"They haven’t mentioned the Cardiff game much, but I think that on our own patch with a full house we can be a force to be reckoned with."

After Liverpool, Cardiff's remaining games are away to Fulham and Manchester United, and home to Crystal Palace.
