A few encouraging stats for the match, especially those of us who fear a battering:
- Both teams have scored in the last five meetings, with the last time this didn’t happen happening in 1959
- Liverpool have only won two of their last five away games
- Liverpool have won by more than two goals in just two of their 17 away league fixtures this season
- Cardiff City have lost by more than two goals in just five of three 17 home league fixtures this season
Liverpool are one point behind current leaders Manchester City
Cardiff City are in the final relegation place, three points behind Brighton who have a superior goal difference

Cardiff City visited Anfield on 19th December 1959, in the first game after their legendary manager Bill Shankly first took charge The result was a famous 0-4 wins for the Bluebirds........something like that today would do nicely!!

Stats should be reset to coincide with the start of the premier league when the money flooded into the game.
Everything before that is irrelevant as they are incomparable

not to the extent they dominate now though..
in the dozen years immediately preceding the change and it becoming the premier league a total of 21 different clubs finished in a top 6 position..in the last dozen years its down to 11..
