THURSDAY 26th AUGUST UPDATE - FINANCIAL UPDATE

Thu Aug 26, 2010 9:56 pm

This update is about what is happening off the pitch more than on it.

With regards to the club going forward many of the creditors have been paid off and settled in full and this is thanks to the hard work, committment and endeavour of the Malaysians. There were many smaller creditors that the club had that were unpaid, some as low as £5k, but thankfully the club is moving forward and settling these companies.

PMG ( Paul Guy and Mike Hall ) are due a payment on September 1st for £2 million as part of the structure of paying the loan the club borrowed for the shortfall in the stadium build cost. I am told that PMG want the money on this date and expect it. This is on top of the recent change in how the Premier seats are sold, they will no longer be sold on a match to match basis.

I know that through Sam Hammam, Langstone are not applying any pressure on the Malaysians and are affording them the tine to deal with other immediate issues such as PMG and also Ray Ranson's company, which is owed £2.5million. Ranson's sports fund will take a percentage of any transfer money the club receive until their debt is settled. I understand that the percentage changes when the transfer amount received exceeds £500K.

I am told that the figure agreed between Leeds and City for Ross is £300k and if Ross leaves it will clear £8k pw off the wage bill.

I know there were rumours abound of a big name signing today but that has not materialised, I have never said there would be a signing today, despite what others are saying. With regards to Chris Riggot, the player is still training with the squad and he is keen to sign for us but the coaching staff are taking their time on making a decision on him as they want to make sure he is not suffering from his previous knee injuries. So far Riggott has performed well at training.

The many people I speak too, some have spoken of their concern regarding City's transfer policy at present. What they are saying is that it is superb we are signing the likes of Koumas, Bellamy and Olifinjana but they are still only loan players and we are not asset building. They are still very thankful for what the Malaysians have done and are doing but feel we need to be bringing in younger players too who can progress at our club.

Is a significant departure expected in order to finance the payment to PMG?

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:05 pm

300 k for Ross, that could come back to haunt us,I'd rather loan him out for year,if he has good season,he be worth a few million at least.

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:06 pm

300k for ross is a comlete joke!!!! why cant we loan him out? at least he will still be an asset for the club then.
:?

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:06 pm

have to say i would prefer to see ross stay than go £300K, think it would be great to have him coming on as an impact player!!!

All this climax about more big name signings is getting out of hand now, as long as we sign riggot or atleast one more centre half i will be very happy!!

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:06 pm

Any more out goings? Rae/Taiwo?

I think we will sign a centre half with the money from Ross and rae transfers. I think jones is waiting for someone not to be included into a 25 squad place and pounce.

Sign riggot on a pay as you play basis. That way you cover youself and incetivise the player to do well!

He must be trouble behind the scenes to be sold for that amount, We all know he like the beer but he must be a bad influence around the place and Jones simply wants rid. :o :o

Annis was referring to Andy Keogh :ayatollah:

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

I had a feeling the issue with riggot was his fitness.

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Who the Hell valued Ross at only £300,000 :?: It's just not right, it seems like the club are desperate to get rid of him! :o

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:56 pm

Fairplay Leeds will be getting an absolute BARGAIN with Ross at £300k, we all know what he is capable of, I wouldnt even sell him personally, espicially to Leeds and espicially for only £300k, in my eyes he's still worth £3m :ayatollah:

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Thu Aug 26, 2010 11:02 pm

300K for Ross is an absolute joke the Club must want rid really badly but it does take 400k off the wage bill which will hopefully allow us to bring a decent cente half.

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Just watched DJ's interview on Cardiff City Player, along with an interview with Keogh and the Physio!!

DJ said that Ross was at the ground this morning saying his goodbyes, as it appears that whilst the deal hasn't been finalised as yet, he's supposedly close to agreeing personal terms!

Rae was apparentlyy training with us today and DJ said he was still a Cardiff City player at this time! :(

DJ said that he was very happy with Riggott, but it looks like he's monitoring his previous injuries, as Carl has already mentioned!

The news on the injury front, is that they are hoping Chopra will not be out for any longer than 8 weeks and he is currently wearing an air boot, to protect his ligaments!

McPhail and Olofinjana were both taken off as precautions on Tuesday, as they both felt their hamstrings tighten, but they should both be available for selection on Saturday!

The footage also showed Keogh and Olofinjana training at the Vale! :D :ayatollah:

Re: THURSDAY UPDATE

Thu Aug 26, 2010 11:16 pm

£300,000 for Ross may sound ridiculously low but in fairness its still a 55% profit and £8000 a week better off. Personally I think what the Malaysians have done is incredible business and in the long run we are better for it and how can anyone doubt or gripe about what has happened to our club in a short amount of time is beyond me. CCFC have pulled off the biggest transfer coup possibly throught-out the whole football world, I for one applaud the Malaysians, Dave Jones, Steve Borely & Co and really dont think we are in a position to criticise their judgement. Lets get the off field mess finally sorted out and look into the next transfer window to progress with so-called asset building younger players, we cant have it all and need to remember to be grateful we still have Cardiff City Football Club.

Thank you Carl for the update pal, I see it all as a positive step.
