There is a great feel good factor about the club at present and it is rubbing off on all our players, so much so that the injured players want to get back in to the squad as quick as possible so they can get the shirt back and hopefully keep it. Today at training Craig Bellamy put in a really good session and has put himself in contention for tomorrow night, there is a very good possibility that he will be in the squad for tomorrow evening. The decision is with Dave Jones as to whether he gives Bellamy more time to make sure he is fully recovered.
Bellamy came back from Montenegro with swelling on his knee and he had it drained last week and had a steriod injection in it, Craig is desperate to play for City again and as I said worked very hard in training today trying to convince DJ he is fit to be included.
Despite Jay Bothroyd training today also, he will miss out on tomorrow's game but is expected to be fully fit to be included on Saturday. Jay is injured with a calf strain.
Danny Drinkwater will miss out tomorrow too with the ankle injury he sustained in the game against Portsmouth.
Seyi Olifinjana will face a fitness test tomorrow to see how he feels after the light training session he had today but the indications are that he will be fit to start against Leicester.
Off the pitch there is major news regarding new investment, I have been told that Vincent Tan is in talks with other Malaysian investors who are keen to put money into Cardiff City, my sources tell me that Vincent Tan wants people on board with him and TG who he knows and feels they can trust. I am told that they are looking at this investment to share the burden of taking this club into the Premier League and settling all the creditors to take full control of the club. This could be major if this happens this side of Christmas as we could see squad strengthing in January.
With regards to the CCS pitch there are fans are curious about the white patches ( chicken pox ) that is appearing on the grass the fact is the pitch has a viral infection. It is under attack from root knot nematodes which come to the surface in the warm weather, it will probably never be cured but is treatable to prevent more damage. At present the club are using different mixtures of Garlic, Chilli and mustard to drives the nematodes ( worms ) back down in to the soil. Many clubs suffer from this problem especially with new pitches of a sand and soil mix and is often a problem from year 2 onwards. The Liberty, Madjeski and The Emirates suffer from this problem. In the cold weather we will not see the white patches as the nematodes go back down into the soil.
The Club shop is to be fully stocked up within the next 2-3 weeks as they have now had their credit restrictions lifted by the suppliers. This is the first time in many months that the club have been able to bulk order because they were under restrictions caused by the previous regime. You will find new stock arriving in the next few days and contuining for the next few weeks. There should not be a problem with running out of numbers for shirts either and they even have quality carrier bags and not plain cheap white ones.
Leicester tickets have sold superb with nearly 1000 City fans making the trip to the Walkers Stadium, great support again.
Millwall have sold 800 tickets for the game at CCS on the 25th. The club has said that anyone who wishes to buy 2 or more seats together for the Millwall game should buy early as they are seeing an excellent uptake in ticket sales already and they said many fans were disappointed at the recent games against Hull and Doncaster because they were trying to buy seats sat together in the last few days leading up to the game.
