Starting Eleven City

Sun Mar 17, 2024 7:44 am

Thinking about the eleven that won us the game v Ipswich last night. Colwill linking right, with Grant on his more natural side, looked better. Ralls in midfield bit of bite, tackles & challenges , O'Dowda left side, getting to the by line.. "Hey Jude" through the middle, centre forward, better balance?

This inverted wingers business still isn't cutting it for the manager, two thirds of the season in. Colwill surely has to have a run at 10 now as well? Thought he looked good again yesterday , getting us on the front foot. We must play the team on it's natural side, square pegs, round holes, disjointedness doesn't work.

We started with same old yesterday , not the team that got us three points against the tractor boys.
As for not laying a glove on them yesterday.. unforgivable in a derby. Hope everyone is in for extra training today!

A number of those 11 I don't want to see in a City shirt again. Replace them with our Youth I say.

O'Dowda needs to be starting on the left and Grant on the right.

The long ball game doesn't work for us with Meite up front, and Etete shouldn't be anywhere near a professional football team.

I'd go with this in the next game:

Horvath

Wilson-Esbrand
Goutas
Phillips
Ng

O'Dowda
Wintle
Siopis
Grant

Colwill

Meite

The problem with Colwill at 10 is he needs to roam to get the ball, but that leaves such a large space between the Striker and midfield. Our only midfielder who has the gas to run to take his space when he goes to get the ball is Wintle but he is the sitter. Siopis would only pass it back anyways and Ralls just can't do those run beyond the striker anymore.

When we started the season well with Rambo at 10 Ugbo was the striker who had movement. We are really limited with slow centre forwards, Rubin is slow, Turnbull is very slow and inverted wingers who are second full backs. I am nearly done with this season already

Agree generally with the team but we do not need 2 defensive midfyat home against an average Sunderland team. Siopsis Ralls and Colwill the midfield 3 with just Siopsis sitting.
