Team News:

Erol Bulut:

“JC has a bit of a problem with his hamstring, so it looks like he won’t be with us on Friday. One or two of the players are a little bit tired from the travelling.

Kion [Etete] is also training with us, but he won’t be ready to start, nor Jak [Alnwick]. We have to be careful, but I don’t think it will be long until he is back.”

“McGuinness is back in full training.”

Patrick Roberts (Sunderland) - DOUBT -

Roberts has missed Sunderland's last six matches with a hamstring injury and is unlikely to feature against Cardiff. While the Black Cats haven't completely given up hope the winger could return over the Easter weekend, next month's home match against Bristol City is probably a more realistic return date.

Jenson Seelt (Sunderland) - OUT -

Seelt is set to miss the rest of this season after picking up a knee injury against Southampton.

I can't believe I'm the first to vote for a Bluebirds win, c'mon people where's you enthusiasm.
We probably won't get top six, but we won't get relegated.

Sunderland looks set to miss out on the play-offs after a string of bad luck in form, injuries, and managerial changes.

Caretaker Manager Mike Dodds is preparing the team for a crucial encounter with Cardiff City amidst international breaks.

The team's young talent and new signings will play key roles in the upcoming match as they try to turn their luck around.

Caretaker Manager Mike Dodds will look to put things right this Friday as they travel to South Wales for a meeting with 11th-placed Cardiff City. While some of their players have been away on international duty, others have had two whole weeks to prepare for this encounter.

O'Nien is back from his suspension, and will likely walk straight back into the starting eleven and wear the captain's armband. The 29-year-old is another of Sunderland's most important players, so his return could prove to be a real boost.

They have lost 6 and drawn 1 game in the last 7 games so I fully expect a win for us no sitting back crap and defending for our lives garbage after a lucky set piece goal that's all I ask is we get at them from the whisrle in there faces and team press vs the man closest to any of there players when they have the ball.

There is no exuses for this one from the manager surely. :bluescarf:

INTERIM Sunderland head coach Mike Dodds admits Tommy Watson could be given an opportunity in the first-team after impressing on his return from injury.

The 18-year-old, who impressed in the FA Youth Cup earlier this season, signed his first professional contract earlier this season, keeping him on Wearside until the summer of 2026.

An impressive 2022-23 campaign, saw him registered 16 goals and assists across the Under-18 Premier League and Premier League 2, and was handed his senior debut against Huddersfield Town in the Sky Bet Championship, replacing Patrick Roberts as a second-half substitute.

The Easington-born winger picked up an injury that has kept him out for the last two months, but he's stepped up his recovery over the international break, impressing against Newcastle United and Leicester City.

Good sliding chalelnge from Ng to halt Aouchiche deep inside the Cardiff half.

Sunderland have a throw, but Cardiff win it back neatly.

Good from Wilson-Esband

Well it was at first.

Did brilliantly to halt O'Nien's run.

Some tricky footwork sees him gallop over the halfway line, but he gives it away while looking to spray out wide to the right.

Sunderland don't make the most of it, though, and Cardiff earn themselves a throw moments later.

PENALTY! GOAL! SUNDERLAND!

Replays show the Sunderland man worked the referee a treat...

But it was Gotras at fault to give him a decision and for missing the tackle moments before...
