Giving a manager time

Sun Nov 29, 2009 7:28 pm

One of the main criticsms laid at the door of football clubs these days is that managers are changed to frequently and that they are not give time to get things the way they want them. I agree that many clubs tend to get rid of their managers too hastily and indeed perhaps the City may have been guilty of this in the past but football is and always has been a results business and there can be only a very very small number of managers who've been sacked for reasons other than poor results.

But surely a time must come when a manager has been given enough time and a change is needed for the good of the club. A time when a "new broom" is needed, a fresh injection of ideas, a new mentality and a different approach. This time has surely come now at Cardiff. Jones has proven himself time and again to be stubborn, inflexible, tactically naive and inept, unable to motivate a team of well paid sportsmen to play to the best of their ability and shown no empathy at all with the supporters indeed treating us with a barely concealed contempt.

It's all gone terribly stale at our club and together with the off field mess it really is a frustrating time to be supporting our team. But support them we will - I just wish that someone, anyone would show just a fraction of the passion for this club as we supporters do.
