With the goings on with Matthews going to Celtic, are the club prepared to let him go free because if they get money for him will it automatically be swallowed up?

Is he a player that was mortgaged out for finance?

If the mortgage is still there then would it make much more sense to get a fee and reduce the debt, rather than let him go for nothing.
