Forget the pitch - is the atmosphere costing us?

Sun Feb 13, 2011 7:39 pm

A few dipsticks booed yesterday, even though it was as one-sided a game
as you could get.

But last week, our players were immense. In a hostile atmosphere they
came out and did the business for a couple of thousand noisy, passionate
fans. Together, we did a job on Swansea.

Admittedly, the lads did not really get into top gear yesterday. But hang
on.. they arent robots.. Scunthorpe are a crap side, its not always easy
to get up for the alleged easy games.

A perfect opportunity for the fans to whip up a bit of noise, raise the temperature
and stir the team into action.

It didnt happen

The players must have thought they'd walked out into a graveyard yesterday. If WE,
the supporters cant get up for Scunthorpe (and we're supposed to LOVE this club)....

Can we really point a finger at the team?

I agree with you. I wish the club realised how important atmosphere is. Much as I hate the bastards, all the gyppos either side of us last weekend were allowed to stand all game.

Believe it or not, the stewards actually seem to be getting worse in the Ninian. Also. there are people there who want to be by the away fans, but don't make an ounce of effort to sing and support the team - so we get to hear misguided dipshits shout abuse at players instead.

The stewards killed any early semblence of atmosphere we had going, I still try and make a racket when sitting, but not many around us join in - and people in row b of 116 look at me when singing as if I had just slaughtered a goat. I fear it is going to get worse and worse, possibly to the detriment of our team and season.

they have made it quite clear now that the Ninian will be WORSE
next season. Irrespective of how many choose to go to the Canton,
Tv Cameras will ALWAYS pick up the noise of a couple of thousand
away fans, pissed up, standing, singing. Surrounded on both sides
by silence.

the whole f*cking bullshit about the Football League/Police/H&S
pressuring the club is just that... BULLSHIT... Jenkins has an
agenda, he's an egger. He winces when he hears the swearing etc
and has actually admitted that he wants to STOP the home fans
singing songs aimed at the away fans. The prick
