Maybe the FAW aren't actually doing enough to try and get more funds? How can the Assembly give more money to them if the FAW aren't bothering to say they need more money. Plus, Sophia Gardens needed major reconstruction for the Ashes which ended up generating enough revenue to warrant its costs and rugby will always get bummed no matter who is in power.

Football produces much more revenue on a week-to-week basis than rugby and cricket though, as well as other sports that are a lot less well off than ours. I was swimming for Cardiff when we had the indignity of losing the Empire Pool with no replacement pool set up, despite promises by those at Westminster to have one ready built down the Bay. We had to wait years for the Bay one to be built.

Don't get me wrong, I do feel more funding should be put into the grass roots of football but stats like these aren't very good at telling the entire story.
