CARDIFF V SHEFF W 1984

Wed Mar 09, 2011 7:40 pm

Who remembers this game then? They gained promotion at ours and by fucked there were thousands of em down.

I was 16 at the time and I remember Wednesday with their faces painted blue n white taking the piss and slapping ppl, mainly youngsters outside turnstiles by Bob Bank. Also fighting in the ground in Canton end, AR and his lot, holding them at bay and doing well considering numbers. They win and invade pitch at the end, couple scuffles but Cardiff well and truly outnumbered, never liked Wed since then and they go and beat us last game of ssn cpl years ago to make me hate them even more.

They in my top 3 of hated clubs with Jacks and Man U

I do they brought 10,000. They got battered in town by the castle, but took over our ground and our pitch, just like Sunderland did.

My 1st ever away ccfc trip was county away that season.

Thank god there were no message boards then. Losing away to county with 7 games left was awful.

Yeah I remember it well.... but for me it was Chelsea at home that same season in a 3-3 draw where the ref bottled it and gave a penalty against Roger Gibbins which Chelsea scored enabling them to come from 3 down to draw 3-3. They seemed to have three quarters of the ground that day. Remember being in the grandstand nearest the grange end and having to be escorted out through the players tunnel along with hundreds of other city fans and walking around the side of the pitch getting loads of abuse from Chelsea who were in the enclosures and the canton!!!! Mad day that was for sure

I have some good photos of them on the unroofed Grangend and on the pitch that day unfortunately they are not digital and I don't have a scanner. I'll try and get them on the MB one day.

I remember they had the whole of the Grange End, the pitch invasion after and an attempt to charge the Bob Bank, no-body moved and the invisible wall suddenly went up.

It's odd seeing other fans celebrate on your pitch, half of you feels f**k off the other half feels we would do the same.

I was, but only about 14 or 15 when it was at its height, so I used to look on in awe  I used to watch most of my football in London back then, unfortunately, as that's where I lived.
