State if Welsh football - need for change

Mon Mar 21, 2011 9:59 pm

Its about time this was acknowledged in the local media, and now a serious debate at sufficient level should come off the back of it. The game needs a platform to flourish that is embedded in the local communities and the education system.

There is a huge passion for the game in this country, but that passion should be intelligently concentrated through all levels penetrating to grass roots involving the right people, with the right enthusiasm, experience and knowledge of the game - accompanied with assembly level funding and a suport network for the coaching heirachy that will withstand the influences of rugby on the mindset of the young talent that we are blessed with in Wales.

I hope this debate remains pivotal for the new FAWs chief execs strategy and approach to the role long term...
