Why ? because a large proportion of Rangers fans still have a major hang up about signing British or Irish catholics ?
Whatever Celtic's faults (and there are many) their policy has always been ecumenical. Look at some of the biggest heroes of Parkhead over the past 50 years; lots of them were protestant like Jock Stein, Bertie Peacock, Dalglish & Danny McGrain.
I'm not catholic myself and tbh have little time for any religion but I've always hated Rangers with a passion for discriminating on sectarian lines. A truly horrible club.

mmmm correct me if im wrong but wasn't c****c fc started as a strickly irish catholic club
