Yeah, this was the year to get out. Brighton, Southampton, West Ham and Birmingham are all teams who will be really difficult to beat. Scunthorpe, Sheff Utd, Preston, Norwich and either Swansea/Reading didn't cause us any real problems this season with us taking a large number of points off all of them put together.

Agreed its more difficult than last season, but it could have been worse. I think if Wolves & Wigan had come down , then it would really have been bad. Expect Birmingham to implode and Blackpool were shite anyway :P

People have been saying "last season was the weakest league yet" for years now.

Funnily enough, it doesn't get any weaker.

It will be dreadful to have to put up with West Midlands police again as we go to Birmingham, and of course Leeds' lot.

Southampton, Pompey, Brighton and Blackpool... can we have them trips scheduled early August and middle of April please 8-) :lol: :ayatollah:

Dave

Hull C and Pompey came down nearly on the Brink of Administration.

Birmingham/WestHam will Both be TOP 6 NEXT SEASON, I RECKON.

Birmingham are in real trouble as a result of being relegated today the loss of £30m in income could see them have trouble with both their bank and UEFA;

Their owner Carson Yeungs has problems keeping his own business afloat and Birmingham is tied financially to that business, I see big trouble ahead at St Andrews :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Annis;

West Ham are in a worse position which is nearly as bad as Portsmouth however they do have the 2 porno kings who will have to dig very very deep just to keep the club trading. Apparently the ground and training ground have already been mortgaged and now they are going to lose £30m in revenue for each of the next 2 years.

Big challenges ahead for the porno kings here :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I personally think that the League WONT be as difficult as first thought, and of the afformentioned teams above, I think LEEDS will be a brilliant side next season! The big teams coming down will lose a lot of their star players - I would imagine people like Blackpool's Charlie Adams would probably be leaving the club?

Cheers castleblue, save me doing the hard work but yeah, West Ham are well and truly up the brown creek.

Whether they can find any of their paddles remains to be seen?

I hope not :ayatollah:

You say it's been weak this year but have a think back to the late 90's early 00's the Championship was littered with teams which you could hardly call massive - Stockport, Port Vale, Gillingham, Bury, Tranmere, Swindon, Oxford & Crewe!
In fact I've just looked it up, none of those teams were relegated in 1998 but Reading, Stoke & Man.City were!
I think the Championship has grown enormously over the past 10 years ans despite this season I'm still enjoying it.

Re: " LOVE IT "

Mon May 23, 2011 9:13 am

Although I do agree the division will be slightly tougher than this past, the Championship is never a given and apart from Birmingham City there are no teams you'd have as a shoe in for positions 2-6.

Reading or Swansea, Forest, Leeds, West Ham, Leicester, Us?, Burnley, Watford, Brighton?, Blackpool, Hull, Millwall will all be in for a shout just the same as this year.

Saving grace for me will be Birmingham romping the league like Newcastle did taking points off everyone.

I disagree. I think that the Championship has been getting steadily stronger year by year. As very good home grown players get forced out of the Pem. And with recent loan players such as Bellamy dropping down a division. It certainly is getting stronger.

Re: " LOVE IT "

Birmingham or even West Ham could end up doing a Leeds next season as both are not exactly flush at the moment plus the fact they will lose a number of players. It wouldn't suprise me as Southampton, Norwich, Forest, Leicester, Charlton, Sheff Wed and now Sheff Utd have all come tumbling from the premiership to league 1.
