" Chopra... Are you all serious ? "

Thu Jun 09, 2011 4:33 pm

Right, I will be the first to admit that Chops let himself down last season for one reason or another.

BUT.......... We are in talks regarding bringing in a new manager and there is a good chance it may be Chris Hughton. Don't you think that it should be the managers decision if he sells the player.

Furthermore.... If it is Hughton then I genuinely believe that he could get Chops firing. It is very hard to get a proven goalscorer at this level and Hughton proved that he has turned around far worse people than Chops, the Newcastle United team contained none other than Joey Barton, Andy Carroll and some other pretty grim characters. He turned them around, created a unified team spirit and they genuinely played for him.

When you think about striker in this division in recent years Chopra has had one of the best work rates and goal scoring records out of all of them. Think of the good games he has had for us... A good pre-season and a run of form and we potentially have a 20 a season striker and you all want to sell him to a rival team in the division.

Sometimes I despair of our fans, football fans in general, I am reading people on this board saying to give Jeanne another chance and then in the next post saying get rid of Chops. Jeanne is probably the biggest waste of talent I have ever witnessed at Cardiff, a superb talent who completely wasted it and will never make it at this level. He was strong, quick, skillful and ultimately a completely floored character. He has been out of shape for what must be a decade now, Chops has been our of shape for a few months.

We've lost too many of our best players in the past few years to just show Chops the door, he needs to work hard, enjoy his football and he will bang them in for us.

To sell him now would be completely daft and a turn off for any prospective manager.

Let's get this manager situation sorted asap and then decide who stays, who goes and who signs

I agree, I want the manager to decide on the situation.

Re: Chopra... Are you all serious

Thu Jun 09, 2011 4:37 pm

I agree with you..........but I get a feeling the player wants out and the club want him off the wage bill.
I would keep him even against his will and let the new manager talk him around.....then if he still wants to go we could still get 1m in january.

Totally agree, I think losing Chops will be a MASSIVE mistake

I think every 1 is missing the point he wants to go, no point in keeping a player who has there heart elsewhere, time for both Parties to move on me thinks!

I appreciate what you are saying, but hasnt everyone here thought of handing in their notice at work at times. I think whether he wants to go or not, he will still have the same value in a fortnight. So let's nip this in the bud until the manager is in place.

Again, the manager could arrive and speak to him (like a real manager should), gets to the bottom of the issues and works with him to sort this out. If it can't be sorted then he speaks to the board and works to find an alternative striker while we thrash out a bidding auction with other clubs getting the maximum possible value for him.

Everyone knows that Chops and DJ at one point had a great relationship, but communication and team spirit had deteriorated last season and some positivity around the club, a couple of good buys and suddenly we've got a rejunivated player.

All I am saying is why rush in to selling players, concentrate on hiring the manager and then the rebuild starts from there.

But lets just get this manager in as I am supposed to be working and my wandering mind is ruining my productivity.

I wish he would just go what he did with the drinking thing was just bang out of order and maybe he knows that.now .His wages are to high for us he is over weight wrong attitude and he wants to go so buy buy.

I loved chops but what he and others did with the drink thing was just taking the piss out of everybody at the club. Will be gutted to see him go but he needs to go and we need to freshen things up a bit so thanks chops for some great times watching you but he will leave with a cloud over his head shame he could of been a lot of peoples all time favourite player.

I cant even bring myself to wish him well he spoilt what could and should have been.

Chops 1year left on his contract do we really want another repeat of whats happend this year and the year b4 with players to leave for f**k all :ayatollah:

Re: Chopra... Are you all serious

Thu Jun 09, 2011 5:13 pm

When this seasons ended i was swinging towards seeing him leave, he's been nowhere near the chops we now, didn't seem to work hard enough and his off-field antics were catching up on him, but £1m??? we should say no for now and let the new manager decide, if he gives him a go then see what he's like till jan ...

But then again, all that could be pointless if he want's to go ... then in that case ... he can piss off! :D

Re: Chopra... Are you all serious

Thu Jun 09, 2011 5:43 pm

The same as Dave Jones........its his time to go.......bad attitude, bad drink problem, bad weight problem,no respect for club or fans, shame on you Chops.

New manager,new direction,fresh ideas,looking forward to next season....c'mon city!!!!!

You look at the depleted squad we got.At the moment is it wise to get rid of any more?£20 million dont last long when you got to buy players and dip into it to pay wages.Malaysians are not a bottomless pit,not so long ago,we was nearly doomed because of the expenditure within this club

Re: Chopra... Are you all serious

When will people realise it's not about what a new manager wants.

We're deeply in debt.
We've a massive wage bill, compared to income.

Chops is one of the top earners, is out of contract next summer. Sure, let's offer him a massive contract... hey, that'll hamper the rebuilding efforts. But it's ok, why should the club try to be run professionally as a business, let's just rely on being bankrolled forever...

Interesting post Chief, but I am not interested in him letting himself down as he is such a selfish character. What I am interested in, is him letting our Club down and our fantastic supporter, not just once but several times.
Because of Chops selfishness he was on the piss hours before the game and then got injured which is hardly suprising then missed over a Month of football whilst comanding obscene wages. That was just one incident as well.
I refused to forgive Bywater JLS and Jay either and I was spitting when ever these players played at the end of the season. And I have been consistent in stating I want all 4 of them out of our Club.
Now also if he had any feelings for our Club he would not have acted in this way, and more importantly he has never even had the decency to appologise to us the Fans and that shows the contempt of the Man.
Chops also wants to leave which says it all. And put it this way a lot of our supporters sound like a run down Boyfriend / Husband that still wants his Girlfriend / Wife despite the fact she hates him cheats on him but is so desperate to keep her because he is frightened of not finding any better.
But we are not desperate and we are not here to be shit on and that is the reasons I want him as far away as possible from our Club . We do not need him .

Re: " Chopra... Are you all serious ? "

I agree it should be up to the manager but you've missed some vital points! Chopra is now by far our biggest earner yet he is completely unprofessional! He has shown no desire to trim down, stop drinking or gambling! If he had gone to rehab and was sorted id give the guy a chance but why should we continue to pay him obscene amounts of money for him to piss away and then play like a pub player! If he's not sorted his life out then we must sell him! We can't afford to keep him in his present state of mind

1.5 mill is chump change for Chopra.

Just watch. After a good pre season he'll come back in shape and be firing on all cylinders. All we need is a decent manager to keep him in line, as opposed to Jones' 'whatever' approach.

He'll score 25 goals for the Swich mark my words. Where are we going to get a 25 goal man in this league for 1.5 mill???

And then we won't see any of the cash we get for him.

A dumb deal. Ridiculous.

Re: " Chopra... Are you all serious ? "

Hes an over weight sluggish shadow of his former self.
he seems to have lost all self respect.
more concerned about going back to newcastle on the piss, or staying at home on the piss, more concerned about shooting of to hereford to find some slags to bring back to party all night, the night before a game (the following day he gets injured and misses 6 weeks)
his gambling is out of hand, anyone who misses team meetings because there in a casino, shows a lack of respect.
there were stories that got out about his antics towards the end of the season, and most of them were the night before games.
GOODBYE, give your 25k a week to 2 players with the right attitudes.

Agree with OP on this but in reality if the player wants a move then he'll get one.

Fact of football life in 2011.

1. if we get Bellamy back, he wont play alot of the time anyway
2. he's made alot of mistakes, lifestyle wise, not just once or twice
3. HE WANTS TO GO
