I don't want him back, he had the chance to sign a new contract and didn't!!

I'd have him back but at the wages he was on, or a bit better ... if he peforms well then he can get the raise he wants!

we need a quality striker how can score goals in the championship so yes I would but get him some boots that make his feet stick to the ground so he can,t fall on his arse

To be honest, every player have their flaws.

If Shearer is appointed as our new manager, I believe that he can catapult Jay to the next level of his career.

I don't believe the issue with Bothroyd is him being on his ass all the time - I often put this down to tiredness as he comes very deep for the ball and is always pulling wide. He's a tireless runner if you watch him for 90 minutes.

I think if you could get his positional play in a more solid place with him playing an out and out striker role - it could end up being a massive coup for us.

Jay has had his time here, He refused to sign a new deal when he had the chance as he thought he was bigger than us as he has his england cap.
For that attitude he can go and rot.
He is not one you would want in your trenches when the going gets tough.

Fair point mate, I just believe he does care about us as fans to some extent and will be impossible to replace at that price!

Often in games, he's on his ass within 5 minutes of games. Unless he's tired from being out before games a la Boro?

I would say yes, if any striker can persuade Jay to come back, then it would only be one of the most successful ever in the game! at £14k a week, Jay will still be a decent asset to the club.

If he wanted to play for us that bad he would have signed a contract. As he hasnt he can go play some where else where they like grass sniffers.

Footballers play for clubs for money. Bothroyd was on £8000 a week at Cardiff and the new contract offered to him was for £9000 or a little more. He is 28 years old and his next contract is his chance of making the most money in his career. On a Bosman he will probably be looking to make 15-20 grand a week and is hoping that Stoke/Everton or the likes will take a punt on him with a three year deal. However, if any of those clubs or other clubs sent a scout to watch him with us in the last 5 months he will have a long wait. Too lazy for the Premiership.

I'd love bothroyd to sign for us again, it would cost us a fair wedge to bring in a player of his quality to replace him, bring back jay !

He's stated he wants Prem this season, if a Prem club offer him a contract he'll go IMO. But would welcome him back for that kind of outlay.
