Strong Candidates

Wed Jun 15, 2011 12:43 pm

We do not know how the interviews went but it seems strange why the club have not opted for one of the 'perceived' stronger candidates, Hughton, Di Matteo, etc. No compensation wpuld have to be paid and they both have the pedigree of taking clubs up and performing in the premiership. Hughtons win ratio is about 55% and Di Matteo 48%. Birmingham who started looking nearly 2 weeks after us made it clear straight away that both were in their top 6. Do they want to take a gamble or go for the experience?

We are now 4 weeks down the line and we are well behind other clubs in respect of re building for the new season.

Id liek some nice sexy footbal

Shearer may have been unsuccessful with that particular job application, but at least he can console himself with the thought that another nemesis - Ruud Gullit, the man who famously humiliated him by benching him against the Mackems - is also looking for gainful employment. The Dutchman's been given the boot by Terek Grozny after recording a paltry three wins from 13 attempts. Pulling the trigger, the club's president (and Chechen president) Ramzan Kadyrov bluntly declared that "the team have played exceptionally poorly this season". Prior to losing his final match, Gullit was criticised by the club for "thinking about bars and discotheques". Wherever he ends up next, perhaps his first signing should be compatriot Fat Pat, also a renowned lover of nightlife...

I agree. It's hard to make an educated opinion when we didn't witness the interviews but it seems so random that the ideal candidates are the ones being looked past. Saying that, it's like real life. How many times have you gone for a job you're tailor made to do and some numpty has got it instead?
