Yes, of course he can. However, if he resigns and Watford believe his intentions is to join another club, like us, then we would have to pay compensation to them if we signed him.

If he resigns, and it's accepted, his contract is over. Terminated with mutual consent. Quite how compensation would be due seems a mystery.

I've always wondered this - seems a bit strange to me !
