Cardiff City Football Club are proud to adorn MALAYSIA on our shirts for the 2011/12 campaign
http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2377996,00.htmlCardiff City Football Club are proud to adorn MALAYSIA on our shirts for the 2011/12 campaign, by doing so further emphasising our growing bond with the country and its culture.
Our ties with Malaysia are by now well known to all, with our esteemed investors and board members now a major driving force in the progress of the club. The bond continues to strengthen between Cardiff City and MALAYSIA, be that with our links to the 1Malaysia campaign aiming for unity within diverse cultures in the country, along with ever improving football connections via the start of the 1Malaysia Cardiff City Grassroots Academy in Kuala Lumpur.
Cardiff City chief executive Gethin Jenkins spoke of the unique bond, saying, "The club had some very attractive shirt sponsorship options to link up with a number of commercial partners and brands in the UK and abroad, but after speaking with our investors and knowing the commitment from Vincent Tan and TG, we knew that the best way to highlight our affinity with Malaysia was to wear the message with pride on our kits this season.
"The bond between Cardiff City FC and Malaysia will be evident throughout the season, something that has already been fully embraced by our supporters over the last twelve months and more. We are all looking forward to maximising this sponsorship and further sharing much between both countries over the coming season."

I think it's the "Visit Malaysia" campaign which every country seems to be doing these days.

I hope the sponsorship on the shirt will be like the logo half way down the article rather than the one in the top right. It looks so cool

Thinking about it, this stinks.
We're in debt. People complained about Ridsdale screwing up income streams, yet here we are, turning down sponsorship offers in favour of expediently doing what Tan et al have wanted. Add in the Shearer fiasco, not been a great week for Tan et al.

I'm sure there is sponsorship money from this, it's not as if VT owns Malaysia.

Pathetic some of you are, sorry.
"Malaysia" across our shirts is a stroke of genius. It will have tens of thousands of
Malaysians out buying Cardiff City products. Its f**k all to do with 'strengthening
our links with the Country'.. thats just spin... Its ALL to do with marketing a product!!
We still have Cardiff City FC on the badge, we still play in Cardiff, we still have 99.5%
Welsh support, our supporters still drink Welsh beer in Welsh pubs before the game.
If they all want to adopt us as 'their' Premiership Club, then its all good. It will all turn
into revenue.
Alternatively, we could get sponsored by 'Clarkes Pie's'...... that would be Welsh and
worth £20 a year.
Stop looking for the downside for Gods sake.
As for West Ham fans commenting? Erm.... the West Ham ground was transported
lock stock and Barrel to Bangladesh about ten years ago. No locals live round there
any more. Cardiff Citys history is all around us, every day, people live it and breathe
it.. They go home after the game and talk about the City, who we signed, who we
didnt sign....they dont travel in from Kent and Hampshire once a fortnight and pig
out on jellied eels singing "Maybe its because im a Londoner, that i left London Town!"
Arsenals new ground is called THE EMIRATES, its on their shirts, does that mean they
have sold out?? Man Utd (AEG) etc etc.
Get a grip lads eh?
